homemade leave in conditioner/detangler for ds

My ds has curly/frizzy hair and the only way I can brush it or tame it is to get it wet--he hates getting his hair washed or water on it so I do that sparingly.. He does like to get "rained on" with a spray bottle. So, I was thinking of making up some sort of spray for his hair (but thats also ok if it gets all over his face because he loves being sprayed in the face lol)

Even though his hair is curly/frizzy he doesn't have much of it yet and it's pretty fine so I don't want something too heavy or oily, just a lightweight moisturizing thing to help his hair curl and de-frizz. A yummy scent would be a plus...

Any good recipes for something like this??

Thanks!!

Well, I don't have a homemade recipe for you but a couple suggestions. First is to put a small amount of whatever conditioner you prefer in a small spray bottle and fill the rest up with water. Another idea (cause I'm coconut oil crazy) is to rub a very small amount of coconut oil in you hands (like a drop or two) and then kind of smooth it into his hair gently.

I used to use the first method but I only use coconut oil on my children and myself now. We have straight hair by the way.

Oh, one place to get a natural leave in conditioner is here http://www.essentialwholesale.com/product_p/604.htm The half gallon is $20 but you can purchase a sample size for $3 or $4 to see if it works. That half gallon should last a considerable amount of time and be cheaper than buying 6 or 8 ounce bottles from some other natural hair care company to equal that amount over time. I prefer to buy my shampoo and a few other products this way from essential wholesale.

I do hope someone else chimes in with a real homemade recipe for you though since that was your original question

thank you! I will look into that leave-in you linked me to.

I am a coconut oil freak too and have lots on hand. I didn't think of it cause I would guess it would be too oily for his baby hair and make it look greasy. Do you find it to be greasy at all?

If we use too much it does make our hair look a bit greasy but that's why we only use a very small amount and then rub our hands together and kinda gently work it in evenly. It took me a little bit of practice at first because I always think "If a little is good, a lot will be better" but nope not the case in this situation

I have been using Lush's Veganese and been really disappointed with it. It doesn't condition my hair at all. I'll have to try the coconut oil. Thanks!
