My Rhodesian Ridgeback has 2 shows this weekend.

Why is it a big weekend? Well, he has 6 points right now. 2 3 point majors, both earned at this very same show last year. What can I say...he's been shown lightly. If he wins Winner's Dog on both Saturday and Sunday, he will earn 9 points total, and FINISH his championship!! He's been with his breeder since last month, getting show ring fit and gorgeous, and I have REALLY high hopes for him.

He will be facing some stiff competition, including two gorgeous dogs from California. But my boy, what can I say, he's a sexy beast and I think he could win the Nationals right now. He's looking THAT good.

So if you can spare a moment for us on Sat and Sun, and send your good vibes our way, I would appreciate it SO much!! I already have butterflies,

UPDATE: Ok, one day down, one more to go!! Austin took Best of Winners yesterday, so he got 4 points. There's 5 points possible today, so whatever you guys are doing, keep on doing it!! I haven't seen my boy in nearly a month, and wow, does he look fantastic!! (He's lost six pounds
)

I got some nice pictures of him yesterday. If I can find my camera cord, (darnit!) I will post some later.

2nd UPDATE: He got Best of Winners again!! 2 dogs didn't show up today, though, so he only got 4 points. He needs 1 more point to finish (AAARRGH!!) so he's gone for 3 more weeks. He's showing in New Mexico, where he should pick up his last point easily. Now we're contemplating a specials career. THANK YOU all so much for the well wishes!! It worked!!

Cool. I've shown to Boutwell, but not to the other. Wish I could think of some tips for her ring for you... But I don't remember the experience very well.

Who's doing your National this year?

You're going to have to upload some pics!!! I don't remember seeing any!

This morning I just bought a couple of gallons of stuff, some conditioners and other random grooming supplies! I'm already running low and wanted to buy some new stuff to try on my white (cough-pink) girl! Chance has his last show before I go on maternity leave
next weekend!

I'm not going this year, so I never found out. It's at the end of this month in Pennsylvania, and it's not feasible financially for us this year. Austin did go last year. He didn't do anything in the classes, but took first in the Sweeps (15-18 months). Here's his picture from the Ridgeback Register. Scroll down to the 15-18 month puppy dogs, and you'll see him. They messed up his name, it's actually Wyndrunhr Copperridge Austin City Limits.

He's lovely.

How is the weekend going? Who is showing him and who showed him at the National when he won his sweeps class?

Isn't it great to win something at a National? I've handled my own dogs to wins at our National and it's so much fun!

Let us know how he is doing this weekend.

thank you! His breeder's daughter showed him today and at the National for me. Yes, it is exciting when they win something at the National...even if it's a little win like his Sweeps class. He also got 2nd in the "Best Ridge" class.

I really wish he was going this year.

A win in a class in Sweeps at that National is no "little win"!!! I am sure that the best of the best were there. It's so nice to get recognized any time at a National.
We have won sweeps at Nationals before and it is a HUGE thrill. Any placement at a National is a huge honor.

We don't get to every National any more either. Since we have always had a couple different breeds, we never made it to every one. One of our clubs has a roving National and when it's been really far we sometimes go and sometimes not. Now that we have kids, I don't think we will be going far for a really long time. I just don't have the desire to spend that time and money-nowadays.

If things did not go great this weekend don't despair. There's always another dog show as you know.

good luck!! And congratulations!! I couldn't ever do the involved grooming,
It's hard enough just bathing Austin and currying him every day these days. I can't even keep up with his nails right now, which is why his breeder had to confiscate him from me. I did put him on some supplements to help his coat color (and boy, did it work!) he was glowing like a new penny. I'm thinking about trying Joanna's Plush Puppy shampoos and stuff...I've been using horse shampoo.

I think it's helped by the fact that I did this long ago before I had kids. So, it was more just relearning some stuff.

With the kids, it's not always easy or ideal in terms of bath time. Somedays I think I'm going to get a bath in and I'm just wiped out! Of course, I'm pregnant now, so that's an extra hurtle in terms of exhaustion!

Did he wind up with any points this weekend?
