Kids Calendar

Hi Mamas...

DS just started preschool and I'm thinking it would be helpful for him to have a calendar to help keep track of the school days as well as our other activities.

I know Melissa and Doug makes a wooden one but I don't like it that much and would really prefer to make one myself. I'm envisioning something made of fabric (not sure, maybe felt) and possibly use rick-rack to divide it into squares...

Has anyone ever made something like this? Or do you have a link to one for sale that I can mimic...

Is it better to have a whole month lay-out or is that possibly overwhelming for a toddler...maybe it should be a calendar that just tracks one week...

Suggestions...please

My daughter finds the calendar helpful and we do the whole month(marking the days off as we go).She also really enjoys making the calendar. We do it like a standard hanging calendar. She makes a painting for the top and we use a blank calendar page(we use these because we were given a big stack of them but you could use the back sides of old drawings or maybe even newspaper) for the bottom. We mount both pages on a big piece of construction paper.I write the numbers and she chooses colors(or stickers) to mark off different events.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for but just a thought for you.
