If I'm dialated already to 3 cm does that mean...

that I lost my mucus plug already? I'm not in labor right now, but had an internal exam at the OB's this last Wed. and found out I'm dialated to 3 cm. I never saw my mucus plug, and if it is thick like I've read, I would have though that I would have felt it coming down my vagina at some point or another. Is it possible that it's still there and won't come out until labor starts? I had wanted to ask my OB this question last appointment but forgot and won't go back in until next Wed. Anyone know?

Umm I have been 3-4 cm for 3 weeks. Yes 3 weeks. It really means nothing. I have been having major mucous loss all this time too. Could still be weeks try not to get too excited!

Depending on how much discharge you normally have you may not even notice when you lose it.

Yes, you can still have it. I never lost mine until labor started, not sure how dilated I was but I'm sure I was at least 4cm.

very interesting! It's hard to imagine how that thing can stay in when there is a hole there. I know 3 cm's is not that big but still...I figured it would fall out once dialation starts. Does that mean that the plug is bigger than 3 cm's in size? How big is it usually? I do have a lot of discharge but it's liquidy, not mucusy. Thanks for the info mamas!
