This one is easy for me. Family history has a way of making those choices easy. And my husband and I chose all of the names we wanted for children soon after we got married. #1 was the first on that list. We are now moving onto the next on the list.
My maternal lineage has an interesting thing where every other woman in the last 7 generations have been named Carolyn. Techinally, it started as Karolina (Swedish) in the 1800's and then her grandaughter was named Carolyn (Karolina technically then switched to Carolyn) and then her grandaughter (my mom) was named Carolyn, so that makes my first daughter Carolyn. Our first girl will carry on a 8 generation legacy and that is cool for us.
The middle name we picked out is Belle, which is actually a nickname that a boyfriend in highschool gave to me and I really like it still. My husband and I decided that we both liked it as a middle name. So a little girl will be Carolyn Belle, nicknamed Belle (so she doesn't get stuck with the nickname my mom got stuck with--"Little Carolyn"), or if I'm feeling silly, I'll call her CarrieBelle. : insert cow smilie here: Moooooo
If its a boy, the name we have picked out Joseph David. I will call him Joey because that is the name of my little brother who was stillborn when I was 2, and the reason that I was raised an only child. My mom and I still mourn his death, so I feel strongly to name one of my boy's after him. I'm okay with naming him officially Joseph because that is my husband's grandfather's name. David is my husband's father's and brother's name and my close childhood friend who passed away at the age of 22. The silly nickname for that kid is JoDavey.
So there ya go: its either Carolyn Belle or Joseph David coming into our home.
