pattern question

I found this in the sticky http://lwalters1-ivil.tripod.com/camofl.html and I'm a little bit confused at this next step! "Inc 1 st both sides alternate rows 3 times" I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to be doing here. So thats one increase at the beginning of the row, and one increase at the end right.. but is it only every other row that gets increased? Is it only 3 rows? I guess I'm basically confused about how many rows get increased.. and well, how many rows are involved in that instruction, period! Can anyone clarify please?

I hate instructions like that! I ran into a really similar pattern awhile ago and honestly it took my DH, (who doesn't knit) to tell me what he thought it meant and then it was like a light went off! Too funny.
Now I'm trying to remember so I can actually be helpful.... maybe I should ask DH!
I'm sure someone else will chime in, or ask someone who doesn't knit what they think it means

That instruction involves six rows, total, but you're only going to work increases on three of them.

You are right that you increase one stitch at the beginning of the row, and one stitch at the end. I assume you're knitting flat, stockinette stitch here. Basically, what you want to do is repeat the following three times:

K one row, with an increase on each end.
Purl one row.

Most of the time, you want to work your increases on knit rows if you possibly can. Increasing in purl stitches is a touch more challenging.
