Looking for a hands-off homebirth midwife in the Milwaukee area

Hi everyone,

My dh and I recently moved to the Waukesha area, and I just found out I'm pregnant with #3! My first two were homebirths, the first one with a midwife and the second one an unintentional UC. I do prefer having a midwife there in case something goes wrong, but I am VERY hands-off otherwise. I want to be left alone during the birth, not have checks or be told when to push or anything.

I'm also very hands-off for the prenatal care. I'd like to have a midwife that I can get to know, have some appointments with, but not necessarily on a regular schedule. Someone I could call with concerns, but not see every other week.

Are there any midwives in the area that would fit this description? Thanks for any help!

I've heard that Jan Wolfenberg is more hands-off. My midwife was Deb Studey - being my first, I actually wanted a bit more hands-on, but at the birth I was pretty much left alone as well, which was actually totally fine as it turned out. I think she's good at sensing what the mother needs - and of course you can certainly tell her what your needs are before-hand to see if you mesh. Deb might be more convenient for you, as she's in New Berlin.

I also had Deb Studey and she's great. She would totally respect your wish for a hands-off experience, I believe. She's very quiet and calming. You should definitely meet her.
