Lemon oil cuts grease! Just stick slices of lemon in hot water (like boiling hot to extract the oils) and then use it to clean. You can also add some baking powder to the mix.

I just use hot water and a dishcloth. I've found a dishcloth does better for me than a paper towel or a sponge. If you have knobs, remove them for cleaning.

There is very little on my stove that needs more than hot water and a little elbow grease. Occasionally I'll break out the BS for the stubborn spots, but usually just putting a wet dishcloth over it for 10 minutes softens it up plenty.

That doesn't include any piece that can go in the sink though... those get soaked, and often just popped in the dishwasher.

I use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds on a Magic Eraser wet with really hot water. It comes right off.

I sprinkle baking soda liberally over the stovetop, then spray on vinegar till it gets all foamy, use a scrub brush and it comes off easily. Then I use a wet cloth to wipe up. Baking soda and vinegar are my favorite cleaners. You can add some essential oils for a nice fragrance.

I cook way too much with oil. :

But, I have found that white vinegar cuts the oil really well, and a paste of water and baking soda rubbed just with my hand will get off all the "sticky" stuff, as well as the burned on stuff (I also boil over a lot . Baking soda and water is also good to get all the splatters off my tea kettle.
