The Green Beaver Company

I recently found a new Canadian company that makes natural products. Most seem to be made from herbs and oils that are either organic or ethically wildcrafted in Canada. I adore their Frosty Mint toothpaste! It's floride free, has Xytol in it and seems to be doing a really good job.

So I decided to try their shampoo. I loved that I could read all the ingredients and that it's a totally Canadian company. The smell is great, it has no SLS in it at all.... but I really don't think my hair is getting clean.

I want to love this shampoo so much. I love everything this company stands for and the price was even pretty reasonable for a natural organic product. Since it has no SLS or equivalent I'm using a little bit more than usual and really having to work to get it into my hair. I have a lot of hair so this can be difficult. When I'm done rinsing it feels like my hair is clean, maybe a little too clean, it feels a bit stripped and very tangled. I use a good conditioner, not as natural, Down Under Organics "Nude" which isn't as good a company or product. Anyway, when my hair dries it often looks stringy and feels a little greasy. Has anyone had this problem with this company? Has anyone tried their other shampoos? I'm using the volumizing one right now. I can't afford to try a different kind without using the first bottle. I'm about halfway through now and just hoping that it'll get better.... Any advice?

You mentioned you are using a little more than usual. Maybe that is what is causing your problems. Try backing way off & increase only if your hair is coming out feeling unclean. For myself almost all shampoos give me the overstripped, tangled problem so I only shampoo occassionally (usually after swimming when I wanted to get rid of the chlorine) but I have VERY dry hair.

You could also try washing less frequently.

We have some of their green apple shampoo and my dh hates it. It hardly suds so getting it everywhere is hard and he says dd's hair doesn't stay clean as long as it should.

I think it hardly suds cause it doesn't have all the chemicals regular shampoos have.

I sometime use it myself and I don't mind it. It's not great but it's still better than a yucky conventional shampoo full of chemicals.

The toothpastes are great, I like the Star Anise one. Made a very good replacement for Tom's. It takes a few days to get used to it because the texture is different but it's well worth it.

I love thier toothpastes too I even like the texture now too, now that I figured out that I don't need to add any water like I did with my conventional toothpastes.

Today I tried using less shampoo but really working it in there to my scalp and making sure I get the lower layers of hair because that's the part I'm finding isn't getting as clean and is getting greasy too quickly. Seems to be a bit better today.
