Support thread?

As is done in other forums on MDC, I was hoping we could get a support/accountability thread going. I hope I'm not the only one who could benefit from it

Starting today I am seriously pursuing finding more wah work. I started by applying for chacha last week and I need to follow up with the email they sent me (which I didn't have time to do over the weekend), and I'm looking for some general transcription and/or virtual assistant type work. I also need to work on marketing for my home party business (which makes plenty of money when I get a party booked, but I'm struggling in that area right now).

Today I've got a bunch of stuff going on (life!) but my goal is to spend at least 3 hours working on this. My to do list is currently -

--finish my resume
--research transcription and va jobs
--finish my chacha app

I'm sure there'll be more added to this as the day goes on, but I figure this is a good place to start.

Anyone else want to post their to do list and goals?

My goal today is to cook a radish soup for dinner, run to post office, take my son to swimming...

For my work, my goal is to add add 10 more products to my google data feed.

and see where I can create more links to my site.

I'm just started another work at home job as of yesterday. So today I've been focusing on coming up with my action plan, putting together a list of initial prospects, getting the word out to my contacts that I've taken on this additional position, etc. I'll have to continue with that tomorrow.

I also really need to get my e-mail better organized - I have three different positions right now for three different companies and yet my e-mail is all going into the same main folder. So I created some different folders this morning and have started putting things in better order so stuff doesn't get lost. I love to multi-task but I'm thinking I should at least focus on one company at a time - so I'll do 1/3 of my day on work for one company, 1/3 on the next, etc. The e-mail folders will help with that.

I'm toying with the idea of getting two more whiteboards too so that I have one for each job.... right now I have one large but very confusing board.

Nursingmom - I hadn't heard of google data feed. That looks really cool, I'm putting checking that out on my to do list for sometime in the near future.

hellokitty - i have the same issue with email, and really all aspects of organization. I hope you got some work done on that today.

Ok, so I didn't do everything on my list. In addition to normal life (going to the dr to have a plastic pony bead removed from my 4yo's nose and family coming to visit...) I only spent about 45 minutes today but then I knew that I wouldn't have much time today, which is why my goal time was only 3 hours.

I got started signing up for a va site, got a fax number set up and set up a new email just for that sort of thing. I also worked on researching how to do my resume so that it best highlighted my experience, and I'm finishing that up now.

I'll be back in the morning...

OK I got a lot done in terms of organizing e-mail yesterday, I finally upgraded to the new Yahoo mail version which I had been putting off because I didn't want to learn new things

I was able to take all the old mail that I had been holding on to for those times when I might need them and put them in an archive folder. A lot of what is in there is junk so I will go through a little a day and clear out that but at least it's out of my in-box so I don't have to stare at all of it. All the more recent mail I seperated into different folders based on the company. I've been flagging things that I need to work on for later and such. Pretty cool. I need to set up filters today so each message automatically goes into the folder where it belongs.

I actually got alot of work done today - even though I didn't post here this morning like I promised. I did fit in about 5 hours of work, which is HUGE for me. I worked on sorting through my email, deleting what I could, I finished my resume and posted it, and did some online marketing and researching and made several phone calls.

But...my house is trashed

I got a lot done today too! And my house is also trashed

I made myself a couple motivating notes and hung them in my office last night and they really helped a lot - they are straight out of "The 4-Hour Workweek" book.

Anyways, one is "Are you inventing things to avoid the important?" This is hanging right on my screen and helped to keep me focused on my to do list for the day and off of message boards and checking e-mail every five minutes. That was huge.

The other is written on my white board and it's "Re-direct all info. that is irrelevant, unimportant or unactionable." That's also been great. I'm minimizing by only focusing on the necessary.

The other thing I did was that last night I made a short to do list - the two to three major things I had to get done today for each job that would make me feel like I really and truly accomplished something. And then I made it through the lists! I've made up my list for tomorrow and I now I feel good about quitting for the day.
