Can I dry washed wool in the sun?

Hi,
I have a wool pile mattress pad, it's all wood with the long hairs. I washed it in the bath tub and hung it over the railing of my balcony. Is it okay to dry in the sun? The instruction says "drying in the shade" but there is no shade in our balcony. Thanks!

Personally, I would let it drip outside and then move it inside as soon as possible. When DD wore wool diaper covers, I would start the drying process outside and then bring them inside. We have a LOT of sun and I didn't want them to shrink since they are the most expensive diaper product we owned. A mattress pad would rank up there with me and I would treat it with care and avoid shrinkage from the sun.
