Hey girls, how goes the beginning of the week for y'all?

We had a crazy weekend. Did any of you hear that the hurricane passed over us here in Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio yesterday? It was so crazy, and we didn't expect it at all. We had winds of around 75 mph, and something like 70,000 (or was it 700,000?) people lost power. Our neighborhood is one of the only small "pockets" in our region that has electricity right now, and my friend said they told her that her power would be out for 7 days! We lost about 3 shingles off of our roof, but one of our neighbors lost probably 50% of their shingles, so they were up nailing tarps onto their roof yesterday afternoon - thank goodness it didn't rain. We drove around yesterday evening not knowing how bad it was, and saw huge (maybe 60ft) trees snapped in half or completely uprooted, trees fallen on peoples' houses and on power lines, etc. It looks like a tornado went through. It's really unbelievable.

I'm so sorry to hear that! That's scary. I'm also very happy to hear that your family made it through ok.

I'm doing well this week. Just getting excited to be so close to the second trimester! I just came back from the store and bought a pregnancy journal! I have been very hesitant to buy things due to a loss last time but am finding I'm letting the fear go more and more each day and trying to enjoy the pregnancy!

Amy - glad to hear you and yours are ok.

michanders4 - I haven't miscarried before but due to statistics I kept thinking I would for sure. But I heard the heart beat last week so I am lot more hopeful.

I have a dating ultra sound tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. DH is going to come.

Ike went through Michigan too, but by the time it got to us it was just rainrainrainrainrain and more... rain! The backyard is flooded... but besides that and the frog infestation in the basement (apparently there's a perfect frog-sized hole in one of the screens, and they were crowded in between the screen and the window, like twenty of them!) really, nada. Still have power, no major winds, no trees down. I guess, by the time it got here, it lost most of its energy. Strange how a hurricane that hit TX could end up in MI! *scratching head*

One more week until the "big" U/S downtown, where they do the nuchal translucency scan.

The only other thing going on is that the van went into the shop today - transmission issues. I don't even want to think about how much THAT is going to cost. *gulp* Keeping hands over ears, "La la la la la"...

Let us know how it goes - I can't wait to see pictures. How far along do you think you are?

I got a cold yesterday so I'm pretty miserable. I'm still in my PJ's as I type this. Guess I'll have to pull myself together soon since DD1 has gymnastics in 2 hours, sigh. Normally we'd skip it, but this is the one class she has been able to somewhat continue taking since her anxiety started. She really wants to try and make it through the class today so I'll drag my butt out of the house so she can go.

Glad to hear you are ok Amy!

I like the weekly chats.

Good idea about weekly chats: Still having the nausa thing here but not as bad. I'm actually wanting food and drink so that's progress. I hope to stay hydrated this week! We had another ultra sound today and everything was just fine. The hemmorage that caused the bleeding is gone and the bleeding has been gone for a few days. Baby looked just fine, I'm hoping I can settle in now and believe this pregnancy will last. Dh went back to work today and DD is trying to nap...let's hope she does so I can rest. I have a few friends coming this week to bring meals and clean my house..thank goodness. DH is totally exhausted...poor guy! It's a beautiful fall day today here in Iowa, hopefully we can spend some time sitting outside breathing in God's fresh air.

Amy: Gald to hear your doing well...storms scare me.

Peony: Hope you feel better ..DD is starting a cold, I"m loading her up on sambucol and vitamin C. I love fall weather but not the sicknesses it brings with it!

michanders4: A journal is a great idea...I wished I had journaled my last one so I would have know more for this pregnancy...it's amazing how simialar yet different every pregnancy can be and with a 3-4 year span you really do forget alot.

I have an appt today with the nurse practitioner. I don't even see the OB until second trimester I think, although she's available to answer questions. I think I'm high risk though, with this diabetes things I've got, so I'm wondering if they will address that at this appt or not. I don't think it's safe for me to wait another 5 weeks to find out if I need insulin or not.

My progesterone has been low and I've been on suppositories and pills so today we'll do another blood test to see if it went above the 17 it was at before. Pray for me.

I have precious few symptoms. If I hadn't seen the heart beat on the last u/s a week and a half ago I would be really nervous.

Today I hung sconces on my foyer wall. Been wanting to do that for a year and finally did it today. All by myself. With a hammer, nails, leveler, tape measure, and prayer. Came out great. I can't wait for hubby to come home from his trip and see them. He'll be shocked I was able to get them centered and level.

michanders4 - I think I am about 10 weeks along. We have family who are going to come up for the delivery and afterwards so it will be nice to know for them.

Polgara1111 - good job on balancing! The heart beat is so reaasuring.

I'm in central Ohio and we were hit with Ike yesterday. We were without power for about 24 hours, thank God our freezer was full and everything stayed frozen! We were caught totally off guard with the wind! Luckily our home was not damaged, but several of our neighbors have some minor damage. No big trees nearby--usually I consider that a downfall, but yesterday I was very glad!!

Does anyone when we are suppose to start to get food cravings? lol I haven't had any but say they are suppose to start at week 10 or something I could some how come up with cravings to have. If you know what I mean.

I met my mw today! : Finally!!! And DH seems pretty cool with the whole thing now. We keep getting conflicting info from our insurance company, so I think DH is resolved with the fact that we probably won't know how much will be out-of-pocket until after the delivery. It was mostly just the asking questions interview thing, so my first real appointment will be next week (the next time she comes to town).

And already I feel connected with her...like she's my favorite Aunt or something. I get it now. It's not something you feel with your OB, or if you do, then it isn't usually reciprocated.

So...other news....we've decided to sell our house. We're going to try and put in on the market by Oct 1. We just can't pay our house payment and other bills, and put anything in savings or pay down any of our student loan debts. We are just keeping our head above water...and this big house just isn't worth the stress! Besides, we are planning a move to the northwest and it will be easier to end a lease than sell a house, when the right job offer comes knocking. And, I really want to get it on the market before I get too big to bend down and pack boxes and such. Wish us luck that our house sells fast. And here's some good news...our neighborhood is selling for 30K+ over what we owe on our house (and we only bought it 1.5 years ago) so even if we price it a little lower than the competing houses to sell it fast, we'll still make lots of $$$ to pay off our car or midwife or student loans or all of the above. Yeah! Send good vibes!!!

schnappy-Red, good luck with the house sale!

Amy, and MI-Dawn, I'm glad you're both safe and (relatively) dry.

JoyFilled, I don't know anything about food cravings at 10 weeks, but invent away!

I'm having my first over-emotional crazy pregnant woman day. I've cried three times over silly things- twice in front of my daughter who is now asking me if I'm happy every 15 minutes just to make sure. For the record, I cried in Neela's dance class because she didn't want to dance; at the bike shop because I was having trouble getting the valve on my tire to work; at the playground because my husband mentioned that he usually doesn't let Neela take her shoes off in the sandbox because he's worried she might step on broken glass/whatever. Not my best moments...

On a more positive note, I also accomplished a lot today. It was a day off work because I worked on Saturday, and I got my car into the shop to get the timing belt replaced and tires rotated, paid a bunch of bills, planted some bulbs and some winter veggies in my garden plot, and we took a nice (despite the crying) family bike ride to the park.

Yesterday I babysat my cousin's ten month old, and had practice going for a walk with toddler and baby. We had a great time, and all hung out in a bookstore with a train table for a while.

Us too! Good luck to both of us. Oh, and very good news that your meeting with your mw was so positive for you!

When I read that, I thought it said that you hung scones on your foyer wall. I busted my behind around the house today too and got a TON of stuff done. I will say 1) I hate home improvement projects, and 2) I am tired!!

Smocklets, glad you weathered the storm, too. Wasn't is so freaky? We were all just totally caught off guard down here.

Joyfilled, good luck at your ultrasound tomorrow!

I'm off to watch mindless TV and eat chocolate while DD and DH are playing outside.

Everyone seems to be so busy!

I'm excited for my first ultrasound on wednesday. Feeling a little less tired these days. A bit more mid-day nausea (a feeling I have mostly avoided until now). Strange... my normal snacks don't seem to be fending off that sick feeling like they used to. But it's manageable.

I've had my first few bouts of crazies. Mostly over the weekend, when I can't seem to stay on my eating and snacking schedule. The episodes pass pretty quickly, and I'm on to apologizing to my DH (sheepishly).

I'm determined to take a belly photo this week and get it up for sharing, I do enjoy seeing everyone else's belly grow. It's only fair!

Be well ladies!

I had a very long and detailed dream last night that I was dating John Mayer.
Ooooh, John Mayer

You're all so busy, I'm in awe. Once I get the kids off to school I'm ready for a nap. My nausea is lessening but it's been replaced extreme exhaustion. The house is such a mess and nothing is getting done. I hope this passes soon.

I have two gender dreams, and the baby was a girl in both! I never had gender dreams with my boys....I'm sure it's just wishful thinking
