We should know something soon. They start filming in March. I really hope they keep Taylor though. He's adorable. I'd only read the first book when I saw the book the first time. Since then I've read them all and he's really how I came to picture Jacob. I'll be disappointed if he's replaced.

I've read the books and watch the movie. I still can't love BD as much as the other 3 books. I loved Bella finding her place, but the I found the Jacob narrations annoying. Maybe because I was never "team Jacob", I didn't understand the need for SM to tell the story through his eyes. I felt Edward was slightly pushed aside in the novel.

As for the movie, was I the only one who giggle at the close ups? Everyone seemed to have made eye going on.

I skipped all of Jacob's narration. Maybe some day I'll actually go back and at least read the imprinting scene. Actually, the more I think about it, I hated his character- I hated all of the shapeshifters actually. lol.

I've never been Team Jacob either but I enjoyed his narration. It was interesting to see the happenings through someone else's eyes. And there is a very tender scene between Bella and Edward that he witnesses that is just heart-wrenching!! I did have to force myself to read his part though. I wanted to just skip it and find out what happens to Bella but I made myself read it and I'm glad I did! I'm working on rereading the series now. I'm almost done with my second read through of the first book. I'm especially excited to read BD again as I think I'll be more appreciative of it now.

There were several cringe-worthy moments in the movie..Close-up, some poor acting bits. Overall it was good but there was some cheese in there for sure..

I'm with everyone who found Jake's narratives B-o-r-i-n-g. The whole section of..which book is it where he decribes how his tribe descended from wolves? I distinctly remember telling my dd that I didn't know if I could read all of it. It about killed me. I'm reading the series again for the second time so soon I will be able to talk more coherently about the books..the first time I went through them I was so sucked in by my obsession with Edward that..I hate to admit this..the experience was a little surreal for me. I was like one of those gushing teenage girls on the other message boards you spoke of

anyway, I didn't like New Moon. No Edward, and too much crazy Jacob and Bella using Jacob for me.
My dd is "Team Jacob"...I can't wrap my head around it. All he was and could ever be to Bella is a friend.

Now, as for the character who plays him-Taylor Lautner is totally adorable and I think a perfect pick for the part. I'll go see the sequels regardless of who plays Jake but it would be odd for the film makers to pick a new actor after we've all become familiar with Taylor as Jacob Black.

Regarding the movie...there were so many parts that were funny that weren't supposed to be. WHen Edward sucks the venom from Bella I was all hyped up for it..he was so sweet telling her he would "make it go away" and then...well, the faces Robert Pattinson made were just so distorted and ended up cracking me and my daughter up. Dang! It could have been so much better!
and Kristin Stewart's acting at the end when she's in the hospital..dd and I have to close our eyes and ears, it's so bad. (we've seen it a couple of times)

given the laughable parts I will mention I liked the close ups...especially during the scene where Bella tells Edward she knows what he is. I love that whole scene, actually.

I could go on, but I will pause and go read and get more coffee...

In case it wasn't obvious from my earlier posts, I'm firmly in the Team Edward camp. I can't even imagine why anyone would feel otherwise. In fact, I'd love to hear the perspective of someone who would have liked Jacob to end up with Bella. When I was worrying about that throughout NM, everything about it seemed so wrong I almost wanted to stop reading! Can someone explain how this could possibly be a desirable outcome??

I wouldn't mind too. I see him more as a little brother (which she does in the end as well), anything else just makes my nose crunch.

I'm glad I'm not alone on the narratives. I can see the him narrating the scenes where he sees Edward and Bella and finally gets it, but everything else just seemed like fluff. Almost like SM was trying to please Jacob fans, after Bella makes her choice I wanted Jacob gone (or at least written into the background). I feel like he was forced upon me as a reader (I sure other people feel otherwise), especially how he continues with the "I know her (bella) better. I get having an outside "human"voice to share how Bella has transformed, but it was annoying having the "ex-not really boyfriend but potential boyfriend" always there.

I'm just finishing the last book. I don't know. It's a good story, but not very well written. I read a review that said "It's like something you'd read on fanfiction.net, if they ran it through a spellcheck and took out all the sex." I kind of agree.

I can definitely see the appeal to a teen reader though. She writes sexual tension well. And often, which wears a little thin. But well.

I am team Jacob. Well I was until BD, but I think Edward and Bella's relationship was so unhealthy. They never did anything fun together. There were so many unhealthy things about their relationship. It seemed more like infatuation and obsession than love to me.

I found Bella and Jacob's relationship to be more believable and healthy, built on friendship, fun, a true intimacy,e tc.

I think Bella could've been happy with Jacob but it was more of a friendly love than a romantic love. She picked Edward because she felt like she couldn't live without him. I think we put a lot of our own romantic notions into books like this. But they were vampires. Maybe their relationship was healthy for vampires? It is kind of a different way of life!

And why do you say that they never did anything fun? They went and played baseball, etc. I'm sure there were other things we didn't hear about. Life probably got easier for them after Breaking Dawn too since they weren't constantly fighting off evil vampires. That would leave more time for fun activities!

well, I finished eclipse and am over half-way through BD. I am strongly team edward, so when I got to book 2 of BD I wanted to skip it. However, once I was about half through it I started to like reading from jacobs pov. I've never even considered that Jacob and bella would end up together, but I was still glad he was there.


ETA: SM has said that Bella & Edwards story ended with BD, but that there were other stories that would be told. If she writes a book solely from jacobs pov about him and what happens after the end of BD, do you think you'll want to read it?

No! I wouldn't mind reading a book from Renesmee's point of view though.

I would read anything SM writes about the characters in this series. I just want to know what happens next....

So, out of idle curiosity, what would y'all have happen next? Either if you were writing the next book or what you would want SM to write.

I think SM left the door open to a new triangle involving Nessie, Jacob, and Nahuel. Even Edward mentions it in the end. Sure, there is that whole imprinting thing, but I sort of wonder if that is something the characters sort of accepted "imprinting is forever"..."we are werewolves" and "we are only one pack", maybe SM will again rewrite the rules so to speak.

I remember when Bella was questioning Jacob about it he said that the non-werewolves have a choice. It's not an instant thing for them. Like Emily or the girls Quil and Embry imprinted on. So I think there is something there. I'd like to see that story get told. There's also the Volturi and what will happen with them. Edward says at the end of BD that they'll probably come back and try to pick them off one by one. There's a story in that somewhere! I just love the world she created in this series. It's very compelling!!

I think things are going to get sticky when Renesmee is just 7 years old but fully grown. I get Jacob's feelings for her start to shift and I doubt her parents will be keen on her pursuing that type of relationship so soon. I don't think Jacob's days of butting heads with the Cullens are over and I'd love to read more about what develops there.

I would also like SM to go back and tell more of Alice and Jasper's story. In an interview SM once said she wants to write more about Leah's story, I can't figure out what more there is to say about Leah so it would be fun to see what Meyer's comes up with.
