Did anyone see the article about vaccines in Playboy?

It was your standard "science has proven that vaccines don't cause autism, so everyone can feel free to go ahead and vaccinate." Did not address any other issues that some of us have with vaccines - just autism. Oh, and it thanked Amanda Peet for making a stand for science. I really usually enjoy Playboy (for the articles - seriously!!!), but I was really disappointed in this one - it only addressed a small part of the story.

I dont know very much about vaccines but I thought that autism was one of the biggest concerns. Can you tell me what other concerns there are.

Seems if you're writing an article for Playboy, you can probably put whatever darn thing you want into it and be pretty confident not enough people will read it to call you on it. Or maybe I'm being unfair... ARE the articles really that great?

I am sure Playboy published this to avoid any connection to former centerfold Jennie McCarthy and her crusade against vaccines because of her autistic son.

I have no evidence since I do not have the $ to do the research, but I strongly suspect the following could be connected to vaccine damage:

Cancer
Any autoimmune disorders
Allergies
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
MS
MD
Juvenile Diabetes
Seizure Disorders
Hearing Loss
SIDS
Any chronic unexplained illness.

I have no evidence, but it has occurred to me that just about any "new disease" that has been isolated since vaccinations have been "required" could be connected to vaccines. Recently, I was researching schizophrenia. I know it is a mental illness, but there is a blood/brain barrier that is not completely developed at birth but can be crossed with early infant vaccines. It was defined and isolated as a brain disease in 1901. There were already Supreme Court Cases and vaccine programs at that time.

Also, if you have a Raggedy Ann doll, do you know its history as a symbol of the anti-vaccination movement since 1915?

I'm sure Playboy would publish articles stating how safe silicone breast implants are too.

A lot of what you listed is in the package inserts for the vaccines as side effects.

Looks like I am on to something! So I am not just grabbing at nothing.

I never bothered to read a vaccine insert since I never bothered to be vaccinated, but thanks.

Interesting because one of the BEST vaccine articles I have ever read was in a Playboy...it was about the Polio vaccine and it's link to mesothelioma and how the simian virus (I believe that is correct) which was a component of the vaccine seems to now be spreadable sexually as people/children have cancer traced back to the simian virus who did not have the original Polio vaccine. Actually, it may have been a Penthouse...hrm.

Interesting about the link between Jenny McCarthy and Playboy and vaccines - I didn't think about that.

The article was also about how people tend to find the information they want and cue into that and ignore the information they don't want. The example was a study where participants were listening to static-y radio and they were allowed to push a button that would make the radio clear. Non-smokers tended to listen to the radio when a message was playing about the dangers of smoking. Smokers tended to choose to listen when a message was playing saying that smoking wasn't all that bad. What the article was saying is that if you think vaccines are bad, you can tap into all the anti-vaccine information out there and subconsciously ignore the studies, etc. about vaccines being good, and vice versa. Interesting conclusion, anyway.

And yes, Playboy has fantastic articles and short stories - I actually get a subscription for my husband every year mostly because I like to read it. They're great with political topics especially. Oh, and the chicks are hot
