Progression of labor after first baby or more

I was just curious how quickley (or not) labor progressed for some of you with subsequent babies. My first was induced so there is no way to tell what my body would have done if given the chance. My second progressed rapidly once I hit active labor. I was in early labor all morning and early afternoon but I went from 3cm to 10cm in an hour and a half and he literally flew out with no pushing. It feels like my body is doing a lot of work beforehand. I am having loads of pelvic pressure/pain, cramping and lots of BH's that border on painful and can be quite regular some days. It seems many of you are or were in the same boat and many of you are several cm's dialated before you hit active labor. I know every labor is different and just because its my third does not guarantee a quick labor but I was just curious what everyone elses experice has been. Also, since we are planning a homebirth my husband is worried the midwife will not make it on time and is always reminding me to let him know the minute I feel ANYTHING in case it goes quick.

I'm hoping for another quick labor. My first was induced via AROM and it was a 5 hour labor with 1.5 hours pushing. My second came on her own and it was a 2 hour labor with 20 minutes of pushing. With both, I was already dilated to 6-7cm before labor, so it got a lot of the dilation work out of the way.

My first came after several days of labor, my second came with in a few hours and my 3rd...my water broke and then everything stopped and i was given pit. With this baby #4...i've been having prodominal labor since saturday and started losing my mucus plug that day and now it's wednesday and i'm still losing more goo. MW said i'm 3cm and 50% effaced as of yesterday. So this one is taking much longer to come. Due date was yesterday. I've never gone over with any of my babies.

DD came after 9 hours of labor, including pushing, 1 day before EDD. DS1 came 5 hours of labor including pushing, 6 days after EDD. DS2 came 7 hours after labor including pushing, but I was sort of induced with him. This one is 2 days late already!

I am so curious about this (my 3rd also). The first 2 were so different. One long and sort of drawn out. The second more sudden and like a train running off the tracks.

I think I could drive myself crazy thinking about when and how this will go. All my close friends and my DH think it will go REALLY fast. I am nervous it is going to be painful and longer than the 2nd.

I have several friends who had "easy" 3rd births then more challenging 4ths.

I guess, no matter what we speculate we have to just wait and see.

Here are my stats:
Baby #1: 25 hrs
Baby #2: 14 hrs
Baby #3: 6 hrs
Baby #4: 31 hrs

Baby #3 was by far my easiest but she had been breech so at 37 weeks (after trying lots myself) I had an ECV to turn her. I really think the ob who did it lined her up in the perfect postion b/c she was so easy. My other 3 births I've had early labor where I knew I was in labor but could have easily done a birth project. Baby 3 I woke up, felt funky, took a bath, started having ctx. It took me about 20 minutes to get dressed after that b/c I already couldn't make a decision about which shirt I wanted to have on

I guess I said all of that to say, I think alignment of pelvis & baby are the biggest factors that contribute to your labor pattern & of course that's usually different every time.

My first was a 12 hr labor. My newborn came after only 3.5 hrs. I don't know what to think of that. We're not planning a third, but if we did I'd be a little nervous about a shorter labor.

My first was 9 hours and this one was 1.5 hours - I didn't have any prelabor stuff with either.

I've heard that second babies are usually much quicker than first babies, but third babies can be a wildcard - go either way.

Wishing you all a peaceful birth!

My first was induced but I was in active, hard labor with her for 6 hours. My second, I was in hard labor for an hour total.

Ok, so what i see is no hard and fast rules-as if I did not already know that LOL. Funny thing though-on one hand a quick labor would be nice , at least as quick as my last one but part of me doesnt want it to go too fast since this is the last time. I am having flashbacks to my last birth and while I clearly remember the pain I also remmeber it being the most amazing, empowering and unbelievable experiences/highs of my life! I guess its just those last days of pregnancy where you want it to be over so you can move on to the snuggling!

My first was born at 39w6d and was about 6 hours of active labor to baby.
My second was born at 39w0d and was 15 hours of active labor to baby.
This babe #3 is now at 41w4d with no signs of coming??????
