Anyone made something like this? I'm looking at my pea coat from last winter and thinking to myself "how am I going to carry DS in it?"

I've knit this-

It's easy and pretty quick to knit if you use a bulky weight yarn.

Zoebugsmom, how much yarn does this pattern use? I'm interested in it but don't want to pay $15 for something that I might not be able to afford to put together.
Also, is it a pattern for an advanced knitter or can an intermediate beginner do it?

Thanks!

The yardage varies depending on what size you need and the yarn weight you use - you can do anything from dk to bulky (though I strongly recommend bulky to make it go faster, LOL!) I did mine with lion brand wool ease chunky, and bough two skeins a week with the 40% off coupons from Michael's and JoAnn's. I think the whole thing cost less than $25 that way

An intermediate beginning can definitely do it - I spell it all out very clearly. THere might be a few things you've never done before, but it will be explained well, and you can always email me for support

I actually got a bunch (5!) knitted ponchos and a garage sale for a buck. 3 are a nice moss green. 2 of those are exactly the same with a turtle neck and ribbed edge and 1 has a fringed edge and a hood. I'm planning on cutting one down to fit my baby (should be fabulous for in and out of the carseat and pouch, etc) and using the scraps to make hoods for both of the turtleneck ones. (I'm not a big turtleneck fan, but I love hoods.) and if there are enough scraps mittens and toques. The other I will put the hood on and cutting a babywearing slit in the appropriate place and edging it. I'm not sure how I want to edge it though. I have white 1" FOE,(Anybody have about a yd of moss colored FOE they'd sell me?) my other thought is to take some yarn and crochet up the edge or I may just zigzag it.

Anyhow, be on the lookout for ready-made knit ponchos.

I've made the Little Turtle Knits pattern with Wool Ease for my sister and I was amazed at how fast it went. Easy, easy!
