Update on Kati

Hi Ladies,

I am Kati's doula, she still doesn't have power and asked me to update you all. She and baby are fine, she went in Monday and had the Prepidil placed, returned this morning to be checked, is still about 1cm dialated but cervix is more anterior, every little bit counts. Her BP was back up (after going down just before the storm), so doc wants to induce in the morning. I know she would appreciate all the ELV you can send her way. We will keep you updated if possible.

I will print out responses and take them to her in the morning.

As someone who was induced for high bp, please remind her that if the induction doesn't look like it's taking, she can ask to have the pit turned off and wait a day or two. She also could ask about beta blockers for the high bp if the induction doesn't seem to be going anywhere - I was put on labetalol and it worked pretty well. I didn't know I could ask to wait a few days when nothing was happening with the induction (I never went into labor in spite of 12 full hours of pit) and I ended up having an unnecessary c-section. Remind her she always has choices!!! She and Poppy are in my prayers!

Kati- I've had you and Poppy in my thoughts all week! It sucks that you don't have power and can't keep in touch as you quickly approach motherhood. After "talking" to you for so long, I am just so excited about your birth! I will send you ELV and hope that all goes well! I can't wait to meet your little one!

Thanks for all the great tips, thankfully her doc has already told her that they can turn off the pit and wait a day if things don't kick into gear tomorrow. He is going out to town on Friday, but the back up doc is great too. And to top it off the nurse she saw on Monday was a homebirther, so we will be requesting her first thing.

I know she will be excited to see all of your comments and well wishes in the morning.
