Fall IVFs, summer 09 babies! - Page 3

Leah - we decided to take the gamble too & are transferring two. after all these drugs - i just want the bfp! twins would be okay (especially since its our first pregnancy). im keeping fx for you that the "last hurrah" worked & you can stop there!!

Texas - i think the timing really depends on your RE. mine went pretty quickly - my IVF consult was on 8/12 (right in the middle of my cycle). when my next AF showed, toward the end of August, I had a baseline ultrasound and started bcp on cd3, did the trial transfer & a hydrosonogram a few days after that, started lupron 9/10, and started stimming on 9/19. good luck to you!

Rockie - hope the apt goes well today!

Lisa - yippee for retrieval day!!! can't wait to hear how many eggs you get. how many follies did they see at your last u/s? i was surprised by how easy the retrieval was - the drugs are great!

waving to everyone else!

I need to check everyone's updates later tonight. Sorry I haven't been on in a few days.

Wednesday we transferred three 6 day old blasts. Two of them were only a grade 3 and the other a grade 2. They only have a 10% chance of implantation each.

Can't wait to read up on everyone!

good luck and best wishes pilly

I often wonder why they bother giving stats....more often then not they are wong! I know a woman with triples who was given a "less then 10% chance" of one sticking.

ack. it's all a crap shoot--but I hope you are a winner lol

Rockies, I agree. I don't know the grades of the embryo's that resulted my girls. The only reason I asked this time was that I was a little concerned that he transferred three blasts and not the norm of two, so that made sense.

Any updates on anyone this weekend?
Hope those blasts are sticky Pilly!

AFM- I am waiting for AF to arrive, should be any day now and then start BCP's on CD 3. On to Lupron on Oct. 25.

How's everyone else? I am so glad its the weekend. I feel like doing NOTHING but drink tea and read.

Pinkfriend: Waiting for AF to arrive for an IVF cycle is the only time I like to say "PLEASE HURRY AND SHOW UP"

Hi Everyone....My DH and I are starting our first IVF/ICSI cycle. My RE is guessing a transfer in mid November. RE is thinking about transferring one embryo since is it male factor...any thoughts???
Welcome Curly!

My Dh and I are doing IVF with ICSI due to male factor. We are only transferring one since I am pretty healthy so hopefully that will be enough for a BFP.

Pilly...I have never been so excited for AF to show up (which by the way hasn't yet).

Hi everybody! Retreival went well. Don't a remember a thing. I slept most of yesterday, getting the drugs out of my system I guess, and today I've been a little crampy but nothing serious. They got 16 eggs, 8 of a "good size". The doc will be calling me tomorrow to discuss how many were successfully fertilized, how many we should put back and when.

Hi Sue, we are also male factor (morphology) and, while we haven't discussed it with the doc yet, I am leaning towards just one myself. As far as we know, my fertility is a-ok, and I'm only 29, so I think there's a good chance that all the embryos we put in will take. I'm really not anxious for a multiple birth!
Lisa, that's GREAT NEWS!! I can't wait to hear how many have fertilized!

Can I give you all my 2 cents? I would transfer at least 2 embies depending on the grades. Grade 1 has a 43% (I think) and grades 2 and 3 have a 10% chance of implanting. Yes, there are pregnancies that result in grade 3's but to optimize a pregnancy with everything you go through, 2-3 transferred would be best. This is what my RE has told me in the past.

My RE knew my concerns with having multiples again but still transferred three but they weren't the best of grades.

Have to get in the shower for work today. IF I do get pg, it's going to be hard to avoid coffee since I work at a coffee house..lol

Here's a link to my RE's grading system. I was wrong, grades 1 and 2 have a 40% chance of implantation. Grade 3's have a 10% chance.

Hi everybody, the doctor called at 10:15 this morning with the news that we have six embryos. The other ten eggs weren't mature enough. The doc seemed sad for me, but frankly I was worried that we wouldn't get any embryos in the end, so six is awesome.

The doctor suggested putting in three, which I admit threw me for a loop. I never thought of putting in that many. DH and I have settled on two. Any more than that, and I will spend every day between the BFP (assuming I get one) and the first ultrasound hyperventilating. We will freeze the other four.

I'm going in at eight a.m. tomorrow for the transfer, and then begins the long wait until the pregnancy test. How in heaven's name do you survive that???
Yay again Lisa!!! That's wonderful! How do you survive until your betas? Barely! The only sanity I have is by doing hpt's everyday watching my trigger leave and hoping to see a line return.
Lisa! How exciting! I will definitely keep you in my thoughts for an easy ET tomorrow and a BFP in a few days.

Welcome Curly!

Pilly - you already have multiples? Tell us all about your multiple pregnancy (pros and cons) since it looks like most of us are transferring more than one embryo!

rockies, pink, texas and abee - HI!

AFM, I had a huge temp drop on Friday and some spotting. Then today I had a .2 of a degree temp drop and I'm spotting as if I'm about to get AF. That would make a 19 day cycle. Unbelievable. Granted, I didn't take my progesterone supositories like I'm supposed to...oh well.

I am supposed to get CD3 FSH levels redone this cycle and then start suppression on CD21...however, with my unmedicated luteal phase defect, it looks like I won't even get to CD21. Hopefully they can figure something out. I'm supposed to have my injection training sometime this week...whoopee.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

i guess i'll jump in here too. we are ttc #2 with ivf this fall. my dd is 2.5 and was concieved after an ivf cycle. we did 2 iui's prior to that. we are 'unexplained infertility'. i started my bcp's sunday. my sonohystogram (sp?) is scheduled for the 14th. its kind of overwhelming to start this all again but i guess you have to just take 1 day at a time. i'm glad i found this thread because we're not telling anyone about the ivf cycle. we didn't with my dd either. i just want something to be a suprise. and i didn't want to have to answer a bunch of questions all the time. the first ivf my dr transfered 2 embryos, but this time we just want to do 1.

Pilly - i agree with the others on the worthiness of those percentages. three 6-day old blasts is great! cant wait to see your bfp next week!

Lisa - woohoo for 6 beautiful embryos!!! : hope your transfer went well this morning! im still wondering how to get through the bedrest, so if you come up with any good ideas, let me know!

AFU - we transferred 2 embryos yesterday morning and had 6 left to freeze. im in bed today and tomorrow, so am trying to come up with creative ways to pass the time. last week at work, i was eagerly awaiting these days of "vacation", but i didnt realize how hard it would be to lie on my back for three days straight! im going a little stir-crazy!

beta on the 14th.

Sarah, congrats on the transfer and good # left to freeze (may they be siblings to the ones you are now carrying)!
My god, I'm simply sleep and watch cable. I never have a moment to myself. I'm GREATLY looking forward to my transfer, and the rest afterwards!
