I haven't been too active here, (especially lately) but wanted to let you all know that I had a healthy baby girl on Saturday the 13th (her official due date). Labor was long, started having regular contractions on Friday am, gave birth at 5:07pm Saturday. I had a lip of cervix that wasn't getting around her head, so the midwife reached in and pushed it back while I was pushing (that was the most uncomfortable part except for her crowning). I labored in the birth tub in our bedroom for a while, but ended up getting out and delivering her on the birth stool. Pushing her out took quite a while, and my mom had really fast easy labors, so I felt a little bit like I wasn't doing things "right" but after she was out and got weighed I felt better. She was 8lbs 14oz, and I am pretty small (5'3", 115 lbs normally) and didn't gain a whole lot, so we were expecting a 6-7.5 lb baby based on family history and my midwife's estimate. My sister was the one who weighed her first, and the midwife was so surprised when my sister read the scale that she wondered if she (the midwife) had calibrated it correctly. After measuring her (20.5" with a 14.5" head) the midwife checked the scale and weighed her again bcause she had a hard tme believing I really had an almost 9lb baby. The baby also had her arm up arond her neck, adding another extra dimension so I did tear a bit at the back (5 stitches total) and have a "skid mark" in the front, which the midwife thinks was due to her arm position. Anyway, she doesn't have a name yet, but is healthy and nursing really well. She has lots of dark hair and more olive tone skin like me, DH is fair w/ blue eyes. Currently her eyes are really dark blue, but it seems likely that they will end up brown based on the rest of her coloring. DH and I are totally in love with her and still getting used to the idea that we have a baby
