Closures for recycled wool cover???

I'm almost through making my first cover--out of an old wool felted sweater. It's a wrap style cover, I'm not sure what to use hold it closed. I was leaning towards velcro, I like the adjustability, and I don't have any experience working with snaps. So can I just use the ruff side of the velcro and let it attach directly to the sweater/cover? or will that ruin the cover. I'm new to wool, CD, and sewing. Thanks for the advice.

I think doing that will eventually tear apart the wool fibers. I think applying the fuzzy part of the velcro on the body part of the wrap and a small square of the rough type to the wings would be better. I hope that makes sense, lol

I'm wondering about buttons, myself...
What pattern did you use?

Um, I didn't use a pattern. I have a mother-ease air flow that I used for the general shape to cut out, I just cut it large, and then stichted around the edge. I went ahead and did velcro, although I have to adjust it away from the edge as it's curling up scratching LO's belly. I'll keep buttons in mind for the next one, although, this one seems to be working great and I love the instant adjustability of velcro. Thanks for the responses.

Could you use a snappi?
I wouldn't use a button for the choking factor.

I use aplix for my wrap style wool covers. You can check out how I apply it in the link in my siggy. Basicly what the pp said, only I always include a crossover tab as well.
