I got this crazy, fluffy, fuzzy poly at Joann to make my ds a Flying Purple People Eater costume. It's not really fake fur, but it's got millions of raised loops and has some stretch. The pattern is mostly cut out, and it wasn't too bad to cut. Does anyone have any tricks for sewing? I bought a ball point needle, because I kept breaking my thread when I was making satin capes a few weeks ago.

Well. I'd first lengthen the stitch you're using. I also might try loosening the presser foot tension if you can. I think that should do it for you, since you'll mostly be sewing with the pieces "good sides" together, right?
I find with thick stuff, the hardest part is starting at the very edge. The feed dogs don't want to grab on, or it bunches up under the presser foot and just stitches in place. I came to the conclusion that sometimes for a seam, to get things "started" I begin in the center and then sew to one edge, and then flip and start at the center again, and go to the other edge. Does that make sense? That way there's always something for the feed dogs to grip.
