Crowded crooked adult teeth, receding gums..help?

My teeth seem to be getting more and more crowded.
I'm 20, btw.

My bottom canine are almost completely sideways, and super squished, you cant really tell from looking though since the other teeth have pushed them back and you cant really see them! My top teeth are straight but its definately a tight fit.

I've seen threads on this for children with baby teeth, but what can I do as an adult?

I have only had dental insurance for the last few months, before that it had been years.

We try and do the Weston Price stuff at our house, so I wondered if there is an option besides tooth extraction.

And if anyone has any advice for receding gums...?
Mine seem to be receding really fast. x_x

You know my teeth/gums weren't this bad pre-pregnancy. :

Yeah braces. My teeth became very crowded as my wisdom teeth came in. I got braces about 1.5 years ago and it made a dramatic difference and my teeth are straight again.

The crowding/crookedness of your teeth likely is not helping. In light of that, my only real recommendation is braces. I have a crowding/crookedness problem and I wish I had dealt with it at your age as I likely wouldn't have the problems I have now with my teeth despite brushing and flossing (mostly) properly.
You may wish to do a search in this forum for periodontal disease or gingivitis. You may find a few threads with some good info/advice.

Thank you, I really hadn't thought about braces!

I did search the forums and google for help with receding gums. I found rinsing with tea tree oil mouthwash, I had tea tree oil so I gave it a try! After about three days of this my gums are almost all better! Before you could see the brighter white of my teeth right by my gums and now I can't. My teeth feel much better too.

I'll look into braces next.
