it seems too good to be true. $30-36 dollars for a 6 pack of organic cloth pads. has anyone used these, i really want to order some tommorrow. also do you have to prep pads n the same way you have to prep diapers to make them absorbant? any input would be appreciated.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

A 6 pack is unlikely to get you through an entire menstrual cycle, unless you're hand washing after each use and you live in a hot, dry, climate where things hang to dry within a few hours. You'll probably need 2-3 packages if you plan to use cloth pads exclusively.
You don't HAVE TO prep cloth pads the way you prep cloth diapers, but it is helpful to do so. An alternative is to change the pads more often the first month you use them, and when you run out use whatever you were using before (like that half package of disposable pads you have left from last month.)

i know i will need more than 6
i was going to give them a whirl and then by a few more packs next month if they work well.
i dread having to use the rest of the disposables , so itchy and sweaty.
i couldn't for the life of me figure out why i had an external yeast infection after every period..... DUH
.
got it now lol

I'm looking at them... the only thing that "worries" me is that they don't seem to have PUL or a waterproof layer. Now, maybe this is not a problem but I like to have that extra insurance personally.
I just bought my first set of cloth pads from party in my pants (so excited I finally got to test them out lol) and LOVE them. They are so much more comfortable than disposables. The ones I got are flannel on top and PUL on the underside with wings and snaps. I also love how the overnight length is 12" long, longer than most cloth pads I looked at and I like that for extra protection just in case. The only bad thing about it is the price at $13 for the overnights. The mediums are like $11 and the larges $12. So I just got 4 to test out but I will be ordering more. They also shipped super fast and had a little hand written note

Sagemomma, you could try the Sorella Luna sample that's $9 including shipping so you can at least decide if you like it or not.
I haven't tried them. I bought organic Lunapads and made my own extra liners from organic cotton fleece.
I have to say though, I way overbought. Part of that I'm sure is because I add my own homemade liners... but also it's because my period is now half as heavy and half as many days as it used to be before I switched to cloth.
So you may want to try enough for a few days and do a wash in the middle of your cycle for a few months before you purchase a full stash of pads, waiting to see if your period changes substantially. Quite a few women find their periods are suddenly much shorter and lighter (and thankfully pain-free) not long after switching to cloth.
