Not sure if this is the best spot for this, but thought I'd try.

I will soon be setting up a reading room with birth, nursing, parenting focus. We would like to offer a lending option. What's the easiest way to do this? Meaning, not too crazy involved set up and easy to administer. Some honor system will have to be involved. We won't be there all the time and would like to allow people to stop by when they are in the building (we'll be alongside a midwifery practice, among a few other things).

Right now we are thinking anyone can browse and stay and read for free. If someone would like to borrow, a one time fee would be charged. $10 or so. Then maybe each book has a card in it that the patron would list their name and number. We'd also have contact info from when they initially sign up. That way there's some accountability but not anything too harsh. Should we formalize a replacement fee for missing books or just assume books will be returned and eat any losses?

Any thoughts are appreciated!
