i want to do something simple on the leg openings of a wool soaker i just knitted. anyone know of a page that shows pics and simple instructions for something simple i can do around the edges? i have several crochet hooks but i think the last time i used them i was a girl scout...ha

I would just single crochet (sc) around the edge. Depending on the yarn, you might want to do 2 rows of sc.

The nice thing about crocheting is that if you don't like it, it's quick and easy to unravel - and it's quick to do in the first place so you won't have wasted a lot of time if you end up undoing it once or twice.

Here's a great site with tutorials on different crochet stitches.

so in that tutorial where it shows the single crochet, when it says insert the hook into the work, the work for me would be the knit stitches around the leg opening? and then the do i keep working around counter-clockwise or clockwise?

thanks for the help

Yeah, exactly. Your "work" would be the edge of the leg opening.

You would just have to use your own judgement for how closely you do each stitch (i.e. how closely to your previous sc you insert the hook for your next single crochet). How closely you do each single crochet will also depend on your tension.

But, again - the nice thing is it's easy to undo and quick to redo!

Good luck!

Edited to add: clockwise or counterclockwise will depend on if you're right-handed or left-handed. If you're right-handed you will be working from right-to-left. If you're left-handed you will be working from left to right.
