Planning on visiting Emory TX for the winter... may need rental options

Hi everyone~

DH & I along with DS, DD & the family dog are planning to come to TX for a block of time this winter, most likely Dec.. Jan., Feb., and maybe some of March. *He* plans on all of us staying with my SIL & BIL. I was told in the beginning that they had a *large* home with plenty of room. I have since found out that there is a *spare room* and that there are air mattresses involved. *sigh* I think I may die...

I would very easily call the whole thing off except that there are two very important reasons for this trip.

1. My 7 yo DS has asthma that gets really bad in the (Michigan)winter & I hate all the heavy meds it takes to control it... I REALLY am trying to get away from that.

2. I have a family member that is in AZ that I've never met. I plan on going to see him in Feb. I have to. I promised.:

I feel that a family of 4 cannot function properly in that small of a space for that amount of time. We would be in someone else's space all the time & I feel like it won't work for us. After all, I'm staring down the barrel of 3-4 months, not a week.

Does anyone know the area well enough to give me some ideas on what might work? I'll need someplace close/ish to a library. I just don't know where to turn to research the area. Thanks!!

My husband grew up there. We don't live there, though- so he's giving me this info. So basically, you're looking for some kind of rental option that will have the whole family covered plus dog. Correct?

There is a library in Emory (shocking!) and it's between the schools and the "intersection." more like the western edge of the town, is the best way to put it.

You *might* look into seeing if there's rental property on Lake Fork- that might be your best bet, especially with your pooch. There is, to our knowledge, one motel in Emory, by the "Chicken Shack."

I personally, would look into staying in Greenville as opposed to Emory. It's 30 minutes away, however there's a higher population and thereby more to see/do/choose from.

HTH!

PM me if you're interested in Greenville as an alternative to Emory. We live close to the library.
