My son was born in the hospital two weeks ago. (As I write this he is 2 weeks and 5 minutes old! Where did the time go???)
Anyway I refused the Hep B vaccine, and the hospital made me fill out a bunch of forms and sign waivers. They even called the pediatrician to get their approval!
I am not in any risk category whatsoever - I could almost understand this circus if I was an IV drug user or had other risk factors during pregnancy, but....??
They didn't do that when my daughters were born. This was all new. Does this even sound remotely normal? I was shocked by it. I didn't think Hep B at birth was one of the so-called "mandatory" vaccines.... the doctor never bugged me about it until 2 - 4 months for my girls.
(Side note - I was so prepared to fight against circumcision that I did not consider the possibility of fighting against the Hep B vax... ironically the circumcision issue never came up!)
