Gardasil mandatory for immigrants/citizenship???

Anyone hear about this? My dh just got sworn in as a US citizen last week, but one, he's not a woman and two, he has been a perm resident for 20 years and brought up in America...so no mandatory vaccines were ever mentioned.

However, when I googled this about the HPV vax being mand for new immigrants, I came across blog after blog of info pointing to other vaxes also mandatory for those coming into the country. Which I guess I can see (even in my anti-vax brain) since people come from all over, possibly from places where conditions are not like here and diseases are more rampant. But, those things are contagious! HPV, not! What???? I mean, wow, this is clearly being used as their new test group. Just as they attempted to use inner city (young black girls, to be specific) high school students as their small test group before that was picked up on and stopped.

Why not? Those who want to come into America and be an American are willing to do anything...they won't/can't fight that one. And to think of all the severe reactions and proven deaths that came from Gardasil so far. OMG. Merck and its supporters have no morals at all. It is sickening.

If anyone knows anything else about this or have any experience, I'd love to hear.

No great links to my dismay...but I'll list the ones I read, mostly some articles and blogs. I originally heard it on the Colbert Report. Oh, and I realize now that it is for anyone seeking to be a PERMANENT RESIDENT, and that specific term makes a difference in understanding.

What do you think?

Being a Permanent Resident myself I thought I'd chime in here.
I haven't heard of it, but apparently it is true. (Question # 13)

Reading thru this document (I-693 instuctions, pg.5), it looks like they require immigrants to get all vaccinations currently recommended by the CDC. At least one can apply for a waiver based on religious beliefs or moral convictions (but if they deny it one might not get to immigrate ).

Personally I think this long list of required vaccinations is rediculous - immigrant or not.

Holy crap is all I can say. This is scary. This is the first step down the road to mandatory vaccination for all. A couple years ago, when I had my medical exam for permanent residency, the form (I-693) clearly said that vaccinations were not mandatory. No exemption was required, just knowledge of the requirements (otherwise you could easily get bullied into it.) I still have a pdf of that form. And as of July 2008, there have been massive changes to this procedure. As far as I can tell if you want to avoid vax as an immigration requirement based on religious or moral objection you must request a waiver/exemption from USCIS. There is no form available for this that I can find, I guess you just write a letter and hope for the best. It says you may be turned down (meaning, you probably will be turned down.)

They've added most of the vaxes on the CDC schedule instead of just the basics. So, even if you have records that you've had the childhood vax, you'll still have to get flu, hep a, hep b, HPV, etc. I've also noticed that they have clearly stated on the new form what is considered a contraindication (pregnancy only for certain vax) and what is not. You can still have titres drawn for proof of immunity to certain diseases but that in no way will get you out of most of them.

So much for the land of the free. This is truly frightening.

My husband got his permanent residency in 2003, I believe. During his compulsory physical exam, he did have to get vaccinated. Luckily he had some records from his doctor in the UK, so he didn't have to get too many. If he didn't have the records he would have had to get EVERYTHING the CDC recommended for his age group again! He aso had to get a Tb test (where they put the bacteria under the skin). As I remember. There are many hoops to jump through to become a PR/green card holder, and I would not suprised if Gardasil is a requirement for women. I absolutely also do not agree with mandatory vaccination either, BTW. Luckily he wasn't too put out by it. If it was me I'd be freaking out! When I had to go overseas for a midwifery placement while in MW school, I researched and found that one can get blood titers for immunity. I got my titers drawn for Hep B, Hep A, Diptheria, and Tetanus. I was still immune from my childhood vax so I didn't get anything before going. Why couldn't they offer titers to people to see if they are immune first before over vaccinating them?

(Funny aside though...I ended up getting pertussis while overseas. That was the one vaccination that a titer was unavailable for, and I thought "What's the risk of that?" Then there was an outbreak and I got whooping cough!)

people get whooping cough all the time, but in adults it is frequently sort of mild or else misdiagnosed

the CDC thinks there are at least 600,000 cases a year in the U.S., maybe more.

I was lucky enough to "only" get DTP Boosters (despite me telling the UA Violation when I got the last one) and Hep A and Hep B in one day. I got 5 friggin' vaxes in one day and after that experience I woke up, nobody should feel that lousy that long for WHAT??? A piece of paper.
I was lucky that in 2005 Gardasil was not on the "list", I bet it's now. I am still majorly miffed that that "civil surgeon" basically forced those vaxes on me-she would have not signed the necessary papers you need for your Greencard Interview. I certainly did not want or need the Hep A (!!) and Hep B, after my reaction I never finished the series, but one shot was enough to cause damage.

And no, they rather refuse you the papers saying NO, than mention the waive- which also costs something like 800 Dollars to file. This UA Violention is one of the reason I will be very happy to go back to Europe and don't have to "disrobe" in front of a complete stranger, and shot up with experimental junk that noone else wants.

OMG! So they are basically experimented on immigrants!!! I wouldnt be surprised if 5,10 yrs down the line they'll be like, 'Oops, Gardasil is linked to miscarriages and infertility. Our bad."
