How big of a chest freezer do I need? (and recs.)

So each year I do something "extra" to save food for the year, last year it was corn for the whole year, this year I'm not sure what its going to be, (I had better decide soon!). Anyway, all the chest freezer talk got me thinking, and I think its time to get one, but I am lost, I am really bad with sizes and dimensions. I will be freezing about 20 doz ears of corn (off the cob) and 1/4 to 1/2 of a cow. I'd also like to do more buying on sale type freezing as well. We are a family of 4. So what size should I get? Any brand/type recomendations?

thanks!

Same question... What size for a family of 4? Stocking up and preserving some of the backyard harvest......
Thank you,

I'd get the absolute biggest one you can afford. Remember that 1/4 side of beef will take 5 cf and 1/2 side of beef will take 10 cf and that's if you stack everything very well. Personally, I wish we had the 25 cf freezer (ours is only 14).

That's my suggestion as well.
