Anyone know of a store selling baby carriers in the east bay that have a lot to try on?

I'd wanted an Ergo, but after doing some reading I'm looking at a whole bunch of different SSC. I'm finding more and more folks say that which brand of carrier you like can really depend on your body shape and how your baby is. I'd love to be able to try on a few, yk? I don't have the money to shell out $100 and then not like it so much. I carry my LO in a pouch sling now, but I'd like to have something over both shoulders and with more structure than a mei tai.

I don't even know where they sell them around here. (I'm in Concord, but anywhere in the SF bay area I'd be willing to travel to)

Or does anyone know of any babywearing groups?

Ya know, I'm embarrassed to say I forgot what your name is Anyway, you are more than welcome to try my ergo & beco next time I see you. Or if you don't want to wait until then, there is a place in SF that had both the ergo and beco last time I was there (but maybe call before hand to make sure) http://www.naturalresources-sf.com/store.html

There is also the nurture center in Lafayette http://shop.nurturecenter.com/ Even though they have some SSC in their online store, I'm not sure they have them in their store that is in Lafayette. They also have a babywearing class & they may have some SSC there that you could try.

ETA..Which mei tais have you tried? I know you are more interested in a SSC, but I do have a mei tai baby, and a babyhawk you could try if you want, too.

I just visited babiesrus the other day in my area and had never really gone there and they had so many wonderful things that I haden't seen anywhere else before. And they had the little maniquines with the baby carriers on and believe that you could try them on.:::

Day One in Walnut Creek is the new baby place. I'm not sure if they have carriers or not, though. You could check their website.

We *heart* The Nurture Center!!!! They even have a free babywearing class twice month where you can troubleshoot issues or just try on new carriers. Very nice!

Also, you could try your local BWing group meeting.

Day One only has one type of pouch sling and some really expensive silk ring slings. I dug that place though. Very welcoming and happy to let me just drop in to nurse while I was out in the area.

I didn't see much at the nurture center either. I will check out the babywearing group and call about the class there.

thank you for the offer, I should be at the AP park day on both this thursday and the clayton park again on monday. I'll let you know if I make it to waddle and swaddle before then. thanks for that info meggles, I had wondered what there selection was like. I should have just called there.

i second the baby wearers group they have a library of carriers you can try and are friendly and awesome (and i am usually at the east bay meetings hehe)
