Sick just two days after exposure?

My DD4 came down with awful flu-like symptoms last night and threw up her mostly undigested dinner over the course of the night. She has been running a low-grade fever since 9pm last night but the vomiting subsided at about 4 am and has not returned. I let her sleep til noon and now she's just feeling achey... She is tolerating fluids, though she has complained about pain with urination twice now. Ugh. The urination pain, I know I feel that when I'm achey and sore... not necessarily an infection, just painful for some reason when I'm sick.

Obviously, I am not presenting this information to you in lieu of taking her to her physician... I will certainly take her if symtoms persist or progress... I was just curious if any of you had a child get sick just a couple of days after exposing them to Chicken Pox?

I mean, this obviously isn't chicken pox, and she picked up something else, likely from preschool or, sadly, from the "party" I took her to (although it was only her and the little girl who had the pox that were there at the time).

I am aware of the dangers of administering drugs to children with chicken pox. Obviously, fever reducers and antibiotics have been proven to complicate the Chicken Pox's natural course.... but I got so overwhelmed by her pain from her sore throat and achiness this morning, that I gave her a reduced dose ofTylenol. She's feeling better thanks to that.

Okay, as of this point, she is devouring some dry toast after informing me that "you know mom, a hot dog would really make me feel better now."

So, why am I posting here? I want to know if any of you have had experience with your kid(s) catching the flu or some other illness a week or so before coming down with chicken pox? Am I potentially facing some issues of complication because her immune system is compromised right now?

What would you do/suggest? Supplements? Things to avoid? Things to watch for?

I'm surprised no one has had any experience with a child being ill soon before coming down with the pox.

Anyhow, thought I'd update that DD has strep throat and a uti as a result of dehydration from the vomiting. She's on a 10 day antibiotic and I'm nervous about having her on an antibiotic if/when she comes down with pox.

Guess all I can do is treat her strep/uti and hope that she's got enough immunity left to not have a bad case of CP in a week or so when she's most likely to come down with it.
