um,... just a quick search on Yahoo! groups for "spanking" yielded a few hundred results ... and the first two pages had nothing to do with corporal punishment of kids. these seem to be groups for adult enthusiasts of spanking and being spanked.

if you can provide some examples of pro-spanking (children) groups, please do.

Hey Activists!!

I'm moving this thread to activism, hoping some of our activists friends might pick up the ball and get these sites shut down.

From my research, the first and third sites listed by fyrflymommy are owned by the same guy, "andy, 19". They are clearly fetish sites masquerading as parenting sites to allow certain oddballs to listen to the topic of discussion that appeals to them: abusing children. *shudder* This guy seems to actively encourage the parents to "spank" and tell all.

His sites:

He admits to having one shut down, "spankingtoddlersasdiscipline". I bet he has more. The "2" site is much less subtle : about trying to seem like a parenting site. It's disgusting.

YOu can go to the second and third sites and log in and see for yourself. THey don't require any "approval".

They made me answer a questionairre before allowing me to become a member of the first group... here it is with my "answers". Gotta love the grammar/typos, etc which I have preserved:

I have two kids.

I guess I "passed" because they made me a member.

I would love for some of you who have dealt with this type of thing before to take some action. I sent a letter to yahoo groups, but I bet that more can be done.

In the messages, they talk about how they used to have pictures, but they got rid of them. I bet the pictures are what got the old site shut down.

I reported one of them to Yahoo... still waiting for membership on the other. The one had a link under the links section for a group called "MummySpankMe" with a horrible picture. It seems pretty clearly to be a fetish vehicle.

hmm...i think there is something fundamentally wrong with someone who is so proud that they hit their child that they have a webpage or group dedicated to it.

ETA: okay that is SICK if that is a fetish. i hope he gets shut down for good.

I am made ill by this whole thing. What do you tell Yahoo when you contact them? That it's child porn or something? OMG that is so sick that they are trying to trick people by putting it under toddler. brrrrr, it makes me shudder.
