baby rash, what could it be? Xposted from life with a babe

Hi there!

So, my dd (10 months now) has had a rash in her armpit for about two or three weeks. It's just small bumps and doesn't seem to give her a problem. When I went for her 9 mo. at the dr they said it looked like a reaction and that it wasn't a problem. now it seems to have spread to the rest of her torso and her bum and vagina areas.
It still doesn't seem to be giving her any problems, but we just want to try to find what's causing it so that it doesn't start any problems.
her diet hasn't been that different lately and we haven't changed anything as far as soaps or detergents or anything. any ideas?

someone mentioned it might be an allergy. if we haven't really been doing anything differently, how do we track the allergy?

thanks!

You have asked a good question. Tracking is complicated. Off the top of my head, I would say writing down everything DC is eating (as well as what you are eating if BFing) in a food journal, and at the same time trying to track changes in the rash...color, location, itchiness, etc. If it changes for the better, look for what you're eating less of, and vice versa. If you have a gut/ intuitive idea as to a problem food, eliminate it as a test. Big allergens include milk, soy, fish, nuts, legumes (peanuts, beans, peas, etc.), wheat, eggs, and I forget maybe 1 or 2 more, but it could be anything. Also, did you change anything? Laundry soap? Body wash? New car seat or blanket? Lotion? You get it. I hope your search is a short one, and that it's quick to fix.
