Pain relief/fever reducer- xposted in H&H

Okay, as I mentioned yesterday, I'm sick. To make things even better, I can't take Tylenol nor Aspirin (they both make me sick- I puke and then pass out and I'm totally exhausted for 2 or 3 days after, with a migraine). That leaves me only with ibuprofen. Only one problem: ds2 reacts with hyperactivity to food coloring even through bm. I was up until 3 am last night with him because he was *wired* because I took 2 ibuprofen.
Any suggestions for a fever reducer I can take?

This is the stuff I learned when I asked for DS...

Thanks, mommydancer. I generally only treat fever (for myself or my kids) when I'm just at the point of exhaustion and *need* some rest. I find it so hard to sleep when I'm alternately sweating to death/freezing.

I was caught between 104 degrees and breaking the corn free effort three nights last week. I gave him the Tylenol. And I don't think it did much harm. Certainly did help us all get a little sleep. I just don't get why they don't offer different formulations of that stuff. And why the heck do hey feel they have to color it?!?!?

I've been asking that question for so long now, I can't begin to tell you.
Oh yeah, and they didn't take the colouring out because of health issues either, from what I recall. I believe they marketed it as "won't stain stuff".
I'm glad the Tylenol helped you out. Hopefully you won't have to be up against that wall again anytime soon.
When ds1 was a baby, they didn't have the dye free stuff otc. I asked my doctor for a prescription so I could get stuff without dye and the pharmacist, when I returned with the bottle asking why he gave me stuff with dye, said "Well, it'll help you get some sleep at least, right?" : Uh, actually no. What it *will* do is make it so that I don't *have* a place to sleep as ds1 will turn into a miniature wrecking ball. Thanks. Now give me the stuff the doctor said to give me. Buh bye.

Fever All suppositories work well, they are acetemeniphen (however that gets spelled, Tylenol, lol). Not sure what you're avoiding, but remember that things like Hyland tablets are all in a lactose base. What kind of IB did you take? The ones I take are just white.

Kirkland's I think. I went to the store to try to find some without coloring. Yeah right. Red, green, blue, yellow.. nothing without coloring.
What kind of ibuprofen do you take? I've never seen any that weren't colored.
I can't take Tylenol.

What about getting pain medication from a compounding pharmacy? I have not tried this, but was thinking of looking into it to see if I could get corn free pain relief for dd.

I was actually kind of thinking about it, but I think you need a prescription and the closest one to me is about 60 miles away. Additionally, I believe the cost is pretty high, but could be wrong.
