hair stylist

I know this might be kind of a long shot as we are all NFL inclined. But I have a short hair style growing out and desperately need to go somewhere for a cut. I went to the Penny's in Columbia and they didnt really listen to what I said so I had to spend another 5 months growing my hair out again, I dont really want to repeat that which is why I havent gone to a salon for a cut in a long time. But its getting ridiculous, hehe.

So I was wondering if any of you could suggest a salon that could do something like this http://www.lynnechapman.com/images/jes3.jpg
with some highlights.

I tried posting on craig's list but their Baltimore beauty section was pretty slow it seemed like. I am in Columbia but could go all the way into DC or anywhere around Columbia, Laurel, Ellicot City ish.

anyway, any help would be appreciated. TIA :

My neighbor does our hair. She is opening a new salon in Baltimore. You are welcome to PM me for her info.

It's a little bit of a drive for you but Shane & Kaufman Salon in Arnold is awesome. Pat would be my choice there for a great style/color. She is really good and really nice. The owner is pretty picky about who he hires for stylists. Also, coloring is one of their specialties there.
I think the number is 410-757-6424.

This is also a bit of a drive for you, but I would highly recommend Ally at the Spa on the Avenue in White Marsh. I have followed her for years and she is fantastic with cuts and color. I've always gotten exactly what I wanted. Good luck!

Keely's in Pasadena is a green salon now. I'd recommend asking for Megan for that cut & highlights.
Keely's Hair Salon
8220 Ritchie Hwy
Pasadena, MD 21122
410-384-7647

They're pretty affordable, and very child-friendly as well. (Keely brings her toddler to work with her.)

Hey Red in Laurel is FABULOUS! I suggest Debbie. I've been so impressed. Her cuts are around $45. I'm heading for the same style. I've been growing it out and more than once, she's talked me out of hacking it all off. She's made the growing out process so much easier and I think I've looked good in the process.

I used to go to AKA Studio in Canton in Baltimore City. I saw Dot (one of the owners) and she always did an awesome job on my highlights (and I'm picky) and a great job on my cut, and I've had both long and above shoulder cuts from her. They have a website- I think its akastudioinc.com
Its a cute little place too.

If anyone knows someone in bowie/crofton/annapolis area who does an awesome job on highlights and cuts and isn't super expensive like Robert Andrew Salon, please let me know. I'm looking to highlight my hair but I'm afraid to go anywhere that may ruin it and can't afford $100 for highlights. TIA

Spa in the Valley- Hunt Valley, MD- AVEDA

I know this has been up for a while but I came across it and figured I'd give my advice. I actually am a hair colorist and although I don't work on Sundays, others at my salon do and you might be interested to know that our salon carries the Aveda color line. It's 97% naturally derived (from plants, flowers and non-petroleum based minerals) and produces beautiful results- I've worked with it for 10 years and would never work with anything less natural. The 3 Aveda people at Spa in the Valley currently have off on Sundays but sometimes have evening hours on weeknights. Ask for Nicole, Kathleen or Barbara. PM me if you have any questions or want more details...
