Puppy Dog Costume for DD?

DD really wants to be a "doggy" for halloween this year. I am trying not to spend alot of money on a costume, using my creativity instead! Any ideas?

BTW, we will most likely have weather in the 60's, dd is almost 40" and about 36lbs. We have an Australian Shepherd that is black/white, so I know she would want those to be the colors!

Thanks!

How about a black sweatsuit/long underwear with white felt "spots" to match your dog? (or vice versa if there is more white than black) It might be a bit on the warm side but probably not too bad. And then attach felt ears to a head band and a tail made from yarn (or a stuffed black sock/panty hose with a bit of wire/clothes hanger in it to make it stick out... you could add yarn to make "feathering".) Felt or ribbon could make a soft collar and bone shaped tag, and she could carry a chew toy which would later go to your pup. A little face paint (or makeup) would finish the look. And you could even make a bone shaped candy bag if you had the time/budget! (I'm thinking just two pieces of white felt and a yarn handle).
