Anybody going to the Big E?

Anybody going to the Big E in New England? I think I asked every vendor there for their ingredients in EVERYTHING. Found safe maple cotton candy (several places), two places that had safe hamburgers (no fillers), and one place that had AWESOME sweet potato fries (sweet potatoes, canola oil). And it was a dedicated fryer so nothing else. I asked another place first and paid $6 for sweet potato fries because they told me it was JUST sweet potatoes and canola oil, but of course they fried it with all their batter-dipped veggies, so it came covered with pieces of batter. Ick. Gluten everywhere! I also brought a bunch of our own food (I'm not as dumb as I look) so we had enough to eat. It was kind of tortuous though. All the food smelled SO good!

I'm not from New England, though DH's family is from Massachusetts and he was born there. What's the Big E? It sounds like a really big food fair and lots of fun!
I'm glad you found some safe stuff to eat and it sounds like you had a good time.

The Big E is a humongous "fair" with tons of food and midway with rides/games, and a building for each state around MA, with stuff made in each of those states, parades, etc. I think I got "glutened" at the first sweet potato fry place I went to.

Yeah, I read that in your other post and I'm sorry. I very much hope you're feeling better soon.

Is there any point in going if you can't eat the food? lol.

My kids rode the rides and played some games (I got a gigantic stuffed moose for a dollar!). And there's lots of stuff to BUY. There was a circus that we didn't get into (filled up each time before we got there), concerts every night, horse shows, parade. Considering we spent 10 hours there, there MUST have been plenty to do... unless of course all that time was spent checking ingredients with all the vendors!!
