How do you store your bulk foods?

Thread Starter
I am contemplating an order to Country Life Natural foods for: flours, beans, rice, noodles, and dried fruit leather. I live in the city, so I don’t have a huge problem with insects in the house (not like I did in the country), but I still want to store things in the safest possible way to prevent spoilage, staleness, or insects. I don’t have a deep freeze yet, but my house does have a decent and dry basement. How do you store these types of foods? Do you use a freezer? What type of containers do you use? Etc...

I have 5 gallon drums; the lids have a nice tight seal. I got them from a wine supply shop.

Canning jars (quart and half-gallon), one-gallon jars with lids and 5-gallon buckets.

Not sure if this would work for you... but fellow boater friends of mine re-use soda-pop liter bottles. Cheap, clear view of stuff inside, won't break, seals tight, and naturally pours out a narrow top. Popular with boaters because they are sealed against bugs and they can roll and fall in high seas without spilling or breaking. Plus you can stuff them just about anywhere!

Voila!
