soy free cod liver oil

There have been some discussions about the vitamin E that is added to cod liver oil being derived from soy.

According to the Nordic Naturals website, the vitamin E does not contain any protein and should not be a problem for those allergic to soy. They also say to consult with a medical practitioner before using

I have been giving the kids Carlson for Kids, and before that Blue Ice. I have emailed Carlson but have not heard back from them yet.

Have any of you researched this, and if so, any brand recommendations? I'm looking for non-synthetic vitamin D, of course.

TIA

I'm pretty sure that any CLO with added E will be derived from soy. You'll probably need to switch to a "pure" product like Blue Ice from Green Pastures. Warning though: it tastes a lot worse than carlsons and NN.

As far as the allergenecity (is that the word?) of soy oil - it's just like anything else....DD is dairy intollerant but can have Purity Farms ghee - some can't....Some people who are soy allergic are fine with soy lecithin and/or soy oil and some are not.

Funnily enough, the kids took the Blue Ice just fine, but don't seem to like the taste of the lemon Carlson.

Maybe I'll switch back to the Blue Ice... The expense of it makes me shudder though!

I get mine from Vital Nutrients. No soy.

Twinlabs. have a toddler on my lap, so can't find a link now. just emailed them about it as well. no vit e and the vit a and d content is not bad. much cheaper than blue ice. oh, and not fortified, so no artificial vits. found mine on vitacost.

I know. They had a crazy sale recently and I stocked up.

we do twinlabs as well.

dd reacted terribly to nordic naturals. right on the label it says: vit e derived from soy. and soy=bad for us, so... just because they are not mixing in soy protein doesn't mean it's great.
