Soy guru's I have a question

Thread Starter
My daughter did the blood test and is highly allergic to milk
and moderate allergies to eggs, beef, and pork .

Her test did not show any allergy to Soy .
People are telling me that if she is off the charts for milk she is probably allergic to soy as well ..

When we have given her soy milk she says her tummy hurts
and she gets "the runs" really bad .. (the brand type doesn't matter)
BUT
When we give her soy formula she has no problems .

Could she have a soy allergy?
, if yes , why does it seem to be just to soy milk and not soy formula ?.

The first thing that comes to my mind is carrageenan. Does the formula have carrageenan in it?

Soy milks usually always have carrageenan in them.

Isn't the soy protein in formula predigested? So it would be like if you were BF her she would be fine if you ate soy but she cannot have it directly. If she is reacting to the soy milk I would definately stop giving her all forms of soy.

her rxn to soy milk seems pretty clear. take out all soy for a few weeks and then you can trial back lecithin or oil or whatever.

fwiw, soy is pretty nasty for your body, in general, unless it's fermented soy like traditionally brewed soy sauce, miso, tempeh, etc.

A little off topic but can you explain why soy is nasty for your body? Like soy milk ect?
