what should i make with acrylic yarn?

i have a bunch of red heart type skeins in several colors. these are left over skeins from a couple of learn-to-crochet afghans (i have quite a number of skeins in some pastel colors), plus random left over bits from some hats, etc.

my next big project will probably be either a sweater or a baby blanket, but i think i want to use natural fibers for those things. anyone have projects that are particularly well suited to acrylic? knit or crochet is fine.

I am not opposed to acrylic, even Red Heart, for kid sweaters. Acrylic would be good for toys.

I'm using some acrylic (red heart) yarn to make some blocks for my DD.

They are about 5x5 and squares (I'll knit 6) and then sew them together with a dull needle and stuff them with some cushion stuffing I have (the foam squares)

I'm no where NEAR finished, but it should be neat.

I'm hoping to figure out how to sort of cross stitch or faux embrodier on one block so I can spell out her name

Make blankets for cats and dogs at the shelter- the blankets go home with them when they are adopted, you cam double strand and do something simple and fast- they will love you.

Crochet Pattern Central has plenty of patterns.
