Need preggo safe hive cure...

Hi, just discovered this whole section for allergies on here. I've been mostly hanging out in the pregnancy section.

I'm severely allergic to nuts and I get some kind of reaction every year around this time when they are harvesting almonds around my city. This year my reaction has been to get hives.

It isn't a new reaction for me, I've gotten them before and usually just take an antihistamine and I'm fine. Well this year I'm pregnant (due any day now) and I don't want to take those because it will dry up my milk supply.

I feel like I've tried every OTC topical that you can find at the pharmacy with no luck. I have broken down and taken some antihistamines a few times, but even that didn't work last night with this latest case.

My midwife assured me it isn't PUPPS.

If you have some good cures that are safe for pregnancy, please pass them my way. I'm totally miserable!

Try Vitamin C and quercetin. This combo. can be found in supplements. Both are natural and natural anti-inflamatories. Nettles also seem to work for some people. Google for more info. to see if it might work for you.

Wanted to second the vitamin C and quercetin or even bee propolis or other bioflavinoids. If you can find acerola cherry vit. C then you won't need the other bioflavinoids. It helps with the histamines your body is producing (not sure about the specifics, I just know that it works). Hope you feel better soon!

Have you tried Benadryl? My Dr told me that it was safe to take and it did the trick when I suffered from hives during my last pregnancy!

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Yeah. This latest case is just totally unresponsive to anything. The Benadryl kind of tones things down for a couple hours, but I still feel ichy and then it goes back to being really bad.

Homeopathics maybe? My mother had stubborn allergic hives a while back and I gave her Apis Mellifica. They were gone within a few days.

Chiming in late on this one, but the only thing that got rid of my hives (haven't had an attack in years now) was alka-seltzer in the gold box. I don't know if that's an antihistamine or not, but I downed that fizzy stuff like crazy.
