just read Dr. Sears vaccine book

OK so WOW.
I am pregnant currently so i thought that i had better start researching vaccines right away.
I just have to say that after reading his book (which is really not pushy either way) that it seems that MOST vaccines that we give children are to prevent the adults they are around from getting sick!!!!!
Most diseases seem really mild in kids.
So my statement is: If we had never started vaccinating then right now we would have no need to vaccinate at all since the adults would all have lifelong immunity from actually getting it as a kid!!
What a stupid cycle we have gotten ourselves into.
Why don't they (the powers that be) see this and stop adding vaccines to the list and start subtracting them!!
WOW just WOW.

That seems to be a lot of what I have read today as well :\ That if we didn't vax, our kids would have stronger immune systems as adults, etc etc.
I am glad to know that book was enlightening for you, as we are buying it this week We waited too long to do vax research.

I have Dr Sears book as well. I find it good because it gives great info on what is in the vaccines - however, I am disappointed because Dr Sears recommends getting all of them. I believe the author is the same Dr Sears who is on that new talk show, The Doctors, and he seems as mainstream as all the other dr's on the show. The other day they were talking about home births and he meekly said some of his bro/sis were born at home but certainly did NOT stand up for homebirths. Here is center stage for him to be the voice of the growing group of parents questioning hospital birth/formula/vaccines but from the few shows I've watched he lets the others promote fear as always. It is amazing that everyone sells out for the right price.

I think the Sears on the show is JIM (*not*Barry) Sears, not Bob Sears. That's my understanding, anyway.... He may be a part of the Sears family, though. There are a lot of them!

OP, that's the gist I got from the book, too. Cave's What your doctor may not tell you about childrens' vaccinations is even more upsetting along the same lines. The chapter on varicella (I think she is the one who discusses how the Cp vax was introduced as a cost-saving measure for working moms?) was one of the things that *really* started me thinking about vaccines. Anytime that we are injecting toxins into our kids so that we don't have to miss work, or so the kids don't have to miss school....
Sigh.

Yes, this. He's the son, not the father (who everyone thinks of)

So... we purchased Dr. Sears "The Vaccine Book". It is, IMO, definitely NOT unbiased. He downplays the side effects that do occur, neglects to mention that VAERS does not always get reports on side effects, and definitely seems to put the pressure on "You really should just get the shots, just maybe not all at once."
If anything, it has honestly made me MORE opposed to continuing to vaccinate.
My husband says he was hoping for something more.... more unbiased, less personal opinion filled.... Overall he thinks it is disappointing.
We haven't gotten past DTaP yet either.

Though from what I understand about a few things, our daughter is a great candidate for non-vax. She is exclusively breastfed, I plan on breastfeeding until she weans, and she is not in daycare or anything of the sort...
