Daniel Hughes?

Our dd's new therapist really likes Daniel Hughes. I want to read one of his books, but which the the most geared toward parents and give the most hands on help? I have a six month old, a three year old and a four year old, so reading all of his books isn't an option

I've only read one, i think its called Building the Bonds of Attachment, or something similar, i think i read the older version, the newer one changed the therapy a bit from what i understand....but it was written almost like a novel, but gives a good picture of what therapy for RAD might look like, and the causes, etc. I really liked it. It was even enough to follow that i was able to read of it to my son (11 yrs old) so that he would have a better understanding of some of the issues that a foster or adopted child might face. I havent read much else by him, but i really like him!

I agree with Katherine that you should look for the new version of this book. Dan Hughes has shifted his approach a lot over the 10 years between the two versions. The shifts have been in response to all the amazing research on brain development, brain chemistry and trauma during this same time frame.

Two of his books are written more for professionals, more of a 'how to' for his therapy approach, so they may be of less interest than the one written for parents.

Dan is also based in Pennsylvania right now and does consults. Might be interesting to have a one time consult some time.
