I'm 7 days post partum and have used exclusively cloth since birth and i noticed yesterday i have a small rash on my labia..MW suggested it's from not wearing pads for so long and that cloth stays wetter than disposible pads. Which seems true...i am changing the pads everytime i go to the bathroom. Last night i used comfrey leaves to help..little improvement...anyother ideas? What about TTO on my pads? I would have to mix the TTO with someting first right? What would/should i mix it with..or is striaght TTO ok to put on pads?

I think that if you put TTO on the pads, you will aggravate the issue more. It's very very strong. Get temporary relief with a herbal soak bath or frozen comfrey pad. I don't remember my mw's post partum recipe, but it was awesome!

What type of pads are you using? If they are just cotton, then the wetness could be aggravating you, also. If you have some with a stay dry layer (fleece or something), those *might* feel better. Laundry soap?? that would definitely cause an irritation if it's too strong (all the "rules" of cloth diapers apply: no fabric softener, no bleach, vinegar in an extra rinse cycle).

I'm using Luna pads, using the same laundry detergant for diapers and clothes. I do use the fleece liners on top of my pads..and it does feel good...however the rash is still there. I'm thinking it is the wetness...i'm changing them frequently though. I thought maybe i should wash them in hot water next time...maybe that will help...and the vinegar also.
