Recipes for deodorant

Thread Starter
I think I'm ready to try making my own deodorant. I found a Youtube video with several recipes. I notice that most use baking soda, which makes sense, but I am guessing this must rub off on clothing. Does anyone have a favorite homemade deodorant recipe that actually works? Does it rub off on your clothing? If I have to live with white streaks in order to have a natural deodorant that works, I am willing to. Just wondered if there is another option. If you have a favorite recipe, please share!

Try the baking soda just like that- it works well and doesn´t rub off, at least not on shaved armpits, if you apply it after showering.

If you like some scent, put in some essential oil. If bs is too harsh, mix it with cornstarch (about half and half).

The recipe that I use is:

1 tbsp shea butter, softened
1 tbsp almond oil
few drops of favorite EO
1 tbsp baking soda
1 tbsp corn starch

I "sift" the baking soda & corn starch in my small strainer before mixing with the other ingredients, so that the deodorant is not gritty. This works like a charm for me.

Here's how I make mine

1 Tbs Coconut oil
1 Tbs Baking soda
1 Tbs corn starch
few drops of EO

I don't find it gritty at all. No stains on my clothes either. You can also follow it with powder to set it if you feel the need.

1/2 cup BS
1/2 cup carn starch
EO (I like orange and patchouli)
Seal it up and let it sit so the EO fully scents the powder.

My 11 yr old actually uses the powder alone as her deodorant. We use a blush brush to apply it.

ok here's mine and it's won the vote even from my husband who is in the military and sweats a lot. He loves it and it not stinky even after a 12 hour flight!

In a clear spray bottle from the craft store (2 oz I think)

75% rubbing alcohol
25% witch hazel
a few drops of whatever essential oil you want (lemon, bergamot, lavender are all good)

That's it! Spray when you get out of the shower and let dry. Get dressed! Reapply later if you need to but my husband goes all day without reapplying and he does not stink when he gets home.

It kinda stings if you've just shaven but you get used to it after a few days.
