Messianic Mamas?

Thread Starter
Are there any other Messianic Mamas out there? For those who don't know what that is, a Messianic Jew would be a Jew who believes Yeshua (Jesus) is the prophesied Messiah and don't believe you cease being a Jew because of that belief. There are also many Gentile believers who worship with Messianic Jews and consider themselves Messianic because they follow a Biblical model for their lives by observing Torah, the Shabbat (sabbath) and Biblical Holidays (Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, etc.) For more info see BiblicalHolidays.com if you have any other questions . I'm posting this here in tribes because I want this to just be a like-minded, sharing thread. Not a debate thread. :

Hey there! I'm a messianic mama as well! Nice to see you!

Do you have any plans for Yom Kippur?

I'm actually having a Messianic mama friend visit me from the West Coast during that time. I'm so excited to see her! :

I'm a Jewish believer in Yeshua, and worship in a "regular" church. Some would consider me Messianic, others not ... I grew up as a secular Israeli so my identity as Jew is just different than most American Jews.

I was born and raised a Reform Jew. I am now a born again Christian.

Hi Mamas!
I'm a unitarian universalist, and a pagan, but I've felt really pulled to a more messianic view recently.... hard to figure out how to word that!
This summer, I spent some time at a twelve tribes community, and I know they are unpopular, but it really changed my worldview and for me, validated my belief/interest in the bible, judaism and Yeshua.
So, while I am not sure I totally fit in here, I have a strong interest and will be reading along!

hello, I could have written the thread by weliveintheforest. I spent time with 12 tribes last year and although I didn't gel with some of their beliefs and practices I was touched very deeply and resonated with much of what was there. I am still finding my way spiritually and will be following this thread with interest.

Welcome! : So even though you worship in a mainstream Christian church do you tend to still observe Biblical Holidays and such? Do you do anything for Shabbat and then go to services on Sunday?

So, what are guys' plans for Rosh HaShana? Our congregation will be having Rosh HaShana Erev services as well as day of. What are your congregations like? I attend a small congregation led by a wonderful Rabbi. He was raised an Orthodox Jew and came to faith in Yeshua in his early 20s. He's a wealth of knowledge and I love attending services because when he teaches it just really shows the interconnectedness of the Tanakh and the Brit Chadashah ("New Testament"). It really is amazing to see it all laid out and the thread woven throughout.

We do kiddush and celebrate holidays at home, though not in a particularly traditional way - we tend to do our own thing. Saturday is my Shabbat - it's the rhythm I grew up with - and Sunday I sometimes go to church, sometimes only in the evening for Bible study.

Nice Do you make your Challah? I've been so lazy lately and I've been buying mine . Well I wouldn't say it's laziness, just being swamped.

Yay! I always love seeing other Messianics on this board!

DH and I are Messianic. We live in AK and there are no good Messianic congregations here at all. It's been really hard keeping at it with no support, so I'm always looking for Messianics to talk to online.

We celebrate shabbat and holy days at home and DH takes DD to my mom's Baptist church on Sundays. We're hoping to move out to Colorado next year. there are a lot of good congregations there as well as a more natural-friendly atmosphere.

Used to make it - now am too lazy and busy... and since I'd probably have to drive an hour to buy it, we use Hawaiian rolls. (used to live there, too; it's just part of our idiosyncracy )

: Yay! It can be hard if you don't have a community of believers. It's especially hard because I have found that Christians don't quite understand it or why you'd still keep up Jewish tradition (not all, obviously!). Where abouts in Colorado were you moving to?

I meant to ask you, are you still in Israel?

We found a congregation in Colorado Springs that looks really good, and we have some Messianic AP friends in Denver. We're looking to be close to the congregation, but maybe somewhere in between Denver and the Springs.
