Early labor? - not going well :(

Ugh! I've been having very painful contractions since about 1am last night. I spent the previous night that way too, but they petered out. These contractions have been anywhere from 8 minutes to 30 minutes, generally averaging around 15-18 minutes. I lost my mucus plug, which is good.

I had doc appt and it appears baby is facing towards my left rather than my back. But that could change closer to delivery, right?

I'm so frustrated because these contractions are really painful with a lot of sort of intense, localized pain particular in the rectum area or pelvic floor. Perhaps some kind of rectal spasms ? that make you want to shoot yourself.

I'm getting exhausted and constantly nauseous. I don't know how much longer I can take this. The idea of another night at least of this seems daunting. I can't position out of the pain many times and sometimes just sitting on the toilet is enough to bring extreme pain.

I'm starting to feel so defeated already. I would be fine if the contractions just stopped so I could rest and try again later. I'm scared. :

Any suggestions? ANY ideas welcomed.

Not in your DDC, but wanted to respond. I am sorry you are experiencing all this pain. Is it possible to go see a chiropractor? Sometimes when your body is out of alignment it can cause unnecessary pain. Are you planning a homebirth? I hope things calm down for you...

I wrote that thread you posted. I thought it sounded like my labor with my 1st baby and thought about responding with my experience but didn't want to scare you. I will tell you though I know your pain...literally.

If the baby is malpositioned you can still try getting him/her in the right spot even if your in labor/having ctx. Check out http://www.spinningbabies.com/ Well, I just checked and the website is down. One thing I remember seeing was hands and knees position...I can't remember if it's during or after a ctx or if it matters.

One thing you can try for the butt pain is sitting on a tennis ball. I'd try it during a ctx (I'm also curious to know if it helps the pain). I had one wrapped in a condom in my home birth supply basket in case I needed it.

If you're having a hospital birth, honestly, you may find relief eventually with an epidural. My SIL had this butt pain and once she got the epidural, she said the pain was gone. I know this doesn't help you now but hang in there.

I just started getting these pains in the last hour or two. I feel like I'm going to go into labor soon! But this is way different than the vice like contractions I started with my first time around. I've so far found relief from doing rectal kegels... dunno if it's the same thing for you. I hope you find relief (or a quickish, not too exhausting labor) soon!

Oh girl I had rectal pain with my first, I feel for you. Try hands and knees that might help you out. I didn't do that with my daughter, but I didn't know any better.
