brushing and the gag reflex

does anyone know anything about this?

Most of my adult life I have been unable to use regular toothpaste. something about a mouth full of foam makes me gag, seriously enough so that I just stopped using it altogether (because, you know, puking is not really so great). I found a good tooth powder that didn't foam up much and used that.

However, recently i have found that I gag even when using the tooth powder, and sometimes even when I'm just brushing with water. I'm concerned; i mean, I know that it's important to brush and not using toothpaste is ok, but...it makes it hard for me to maintain good brushing habits, you know?

has anyone ever encountered anything like this? is there anyway to calm the gag reflex??

I have a similar problem! I still use regular toothbrush, I just have to spit alot, but brushing my way back teeth just kills me everytime. I hope someone has some ideas.
