Waterbirth moms: do we really need a liner for the birthing pool?

I'll spring for one and everything, but I'm wondering if it makes the pool less comfortable. We're going with the La Bassine, I think, and it looks like such a comfier pool without that weird liner inside. Then again, we'd like to be able to use it again as a kiddy pool and maybe a birthing pool if we decide to have another child, and not using a liner seems pretty unsanitary in that case.

What do you think?

I'm no expert but I think liners are kind of more for 'community rental' tubs. It makes it easier on the lender to clean the tubs and probably makes the people using the tub feel better.

I definitely don't think it is a mandatory thing.

I am not gonna use a liner. I think it will get in the way.

I bought my own pool so I didn't use a liner. We just cleaned out the pool afterwards and we'll use it for the next one.

The liners make cleaning up a LOT easier, but if you're using your own pool you don't need one.

I used a liner but it was not my tub. If it was mine I would not. Just give it a good scrub after.

Dh wants to get a liner this time. He thinks it will make clean up so much easier. I don't know what we will do. I do not even know if there is a liner that wil fit the bigger fishy pool, lol. So he may just have to deal in not having one!

ITA that the cleanup is sooooo much easier w/a liner. we used our MW's la bassine, so we had to have a liner, but it didn't make a difference on the comfort of the pool. the liner smooshes down and smooths out quite a bit once the water is in the tub. personally, i would use the liner again, even if we owned the tub. there's enough to worry about cleaning up and taking care of after a birth, why add scrubbing out a birth tub to the list if you don't have to!

Did the liner affect the handles o the inside of the pool at all?

The La Bassine has a custom liner that has cut outs for the handles.

We bought the liner because it will make clean up easier. We live in an apartment, so convenience is preferred.

I knew about the liner, was just curious HOW the cutouts worked, without being able to see it, my mind is mush. LOL

we actually got the cheaper universal liner. i honestly don't recall handles at all cause i just hung over the edge of the pool and hugged DH while i was giving birth.

No liner here for the pool I bought. If it's uncleanable or seems unsanitary after trying to clean it then we'll chuck it or something I guess.
